Re: Proposed Pedestrian Kiosk -Downtown and South Division Street Promenade
Background
Staff has been working with KPG, Inc., the promenade consultant, on a proposed design for a
pedestrian kiosk that would be part of the South Division Street Promenade project and installed
at other locations within Downtown.
Initial direction was provided to the consultant to develop the proposed conceptual drawing:
• Pedestrian kiosk needs to be sized to fit within the Promenade but also within existing
right-of-way elsewhere in downtown where sidewalks are not as wide (10 feet}.
• Common durable materials, finishes and fasteners for easy fabrication.
• An "off the shelf' internally lit light box which will contain the replaceable kiosk information.
• Locations identified on the kiosk can be easily changed if needed in the future.
As additional background information for the Committee, attached are other City examples for
review.
Discussion
Based on the above initial direction, KPG has provided a conceptual pedestrian kiosk design. Also included in your packet are the proposed locations within the promenade for the pedestrian
kiosk. Staff proposes to focus on the promenade locations initially and the return to a subsequent
committee meeting to discuss other locations within Downtown to install a pedestrian kiosk.
At Tuesday's Committee meeting staff would like discuss the following questions:
1. What feedback does the Committee have on the proposed pedestrian kiosk?
2. Are the proposed locations for the pedestrian kiosk within the promenade acceptable to
the Committee?
