Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 2:05 pm by Len Elliott. Those Board members attending in
addition to Mr. Elliott were Lonnie Sundal, Karen Wright, Maggie Greenslit, Arnie Galli. Also
present was prospective member Laurie Sloan. Also present at the meeting were Parks
Maintenance Manager Mike Miller, Parks Horticulturist Kirk Hadley and Parks Secretary Julie
Mehl.

January meeting minutes approved with change: "Len e-mailed Auburn Reporter".
III. Correspondence/Public Input
A. Maggie Greenslit attending as the Urban Tree Boards newly appointed board member. She
is a Master Gardener and is also a member of the Auburn International Farmer's Market
Advisory Board. She volunteers at Washington Elementary.
B. Laurie Sloan attended meeting, she is interested in becoming a Tree Board member. Her
background is in Forestry and she is a Master Gardener.
IV. Old Business
A. Significant Tree - Unanimously approved the Copper Beech tree at Mountain View
Cemetery. It is an 85 - 90 year old tree.
B. Neighborhood tree planting will take place along Park Ave. The Eagle Scout project
includes removing Crab Apple trees and replacing with Kousa Dogwoods on February 26 at
9:00 am. The Neighborhood Grant of $2000 has been approved by Michael Hursh.
Underground locating has been completed (except PSE).

V. New Business
A. Arbor Day Tree Planting - Will be held April 20, 10:00 am at Veteran's Memorial Park.
The Chinook District of Garden Clubs selected the Aubum Garden Club for an extra $75
for the purchase of the Arbor Day Tree. That brings.the total amount to $225.
VI. Board Recommendations/Input
VII. Department Report
A. Game Facm Park soccer lights have been installed and paid for by a federal energy conservation grant.-_ The lights will save $6,000 -$7,000 per year.
B. Game Farm Fark Tennis Court rehabilitation - the City received a$56,000 grant from King
County Youth Sports to repair the root damaged tennis courts.
C. Cottonwood removal at Isaac. Evans park will take approximately ten years to complete.
There are 75 trees that need to be removed..
D. The Parks & Recreation board is working on establishing an off leash area. They have,
selected nine potential sites in Aubum.
E. The State is trying to sell the following propecties: Head-quarters at Game Farm Park; an
area near the Green Riyer;, property on West Hill with a lake. The City is working on "
purchasing these properties.
VIII. Adjournment
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 2:50 pm.
