HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-25-1991sp CITY OF AUBURN COUNCIL BUDGET WORRSHOP MINUTES November 25, 1991 , The meeting was convened at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Work Area. Those in attendance were Councilmembers Barber, Brothers, Burns, Larson, Wagner and Whittall; Mayor Roegner; Finance Director Dugan; Fire Chief Johnson; Police Chief Evans; Planning Director Lancaster; Public Works Director Currie; City Attorney and Acting Personne], DireCtor Shelton; Parks and Recreation Director Chapman; Airport Director Anderson; Police Captain Pitzl; Library Director Stanton; and Financial Analyst Alice Strand. Councilman Kurle was excused. Mayor Roegner provided an update of 1991 goals which indicates that by the end of the year, the City wi1T have completed 32 of 35 goals. Mayor Roegner then presented tlze proposed goals for 1992 and a budget overview which indicates that the general fund budget will be up by 1% and the overall City budget will be down by 6%. Presentations were then given by Finance Director Pat Dugan, Police Chief Jake Evans, and Steve Shelton who gave presentations for both the Legal department and Personnel.. Len Chapman gave the Parks and Recreation, Cemetery, and Golf Course budget - presentations; Steve Lancaster gave Planning and Community Development, Library, Airport, and Human.Services. Frank Currie gave presentations on the Public Works department, including streets, water, sewer, storm, engineering, equipment rental, and building divisions. Fire Chief Bob Johnson gave the budget presentation for the Fire Department. Councilmembers asked a number of questions with regard to econamic strategy, financial projections, and priorities for 1992. Councilman Whittall who is President of the Board of Directors for Valley Cities Mental Health asked to be excused from the discussion on the City's recommended human services funding.as he felt it would not be appropriate far him to participate in those,discussions. At the conclusion of the discussions, the City Council agreed with the baseline, financial projections, program improvements and 1992 proposed goals. With no further business to come before°the City Council, the meeting was adjourned. Staff will prepare the appropriate ordinances for the Council's consideration. BWM11-25
