Business Retention and Development
The following educational events are scheduled for the summer and: fall of 2011:
1) Loss Prevention Forum
Designed for Retail Businesses of all sizes,,this forum will engage several guest speakers,
and follow the topics of General Crime Tends, Shoplifting, Employee Theft, Ocganized
Crime Theft, and Child Abduction.,
2) Automobile Dealer Forum A one day forum to discuss issues relating to the New Car Dealers of Auburn.
3) Downtown Round Table ,
A round table discussion w(ith downtown business to discuss current trends, how the
City can assist them in their day-to-day business, as well as their long term strategies.
4) Export University A follow-up to the lmport Export Forum; A series of dasses designed to aid growing
business in Planning their export opportunities; and includes the specific mechanics and
the how-to of exporting. . 5) Energy Conservation
Presented in partnecship with PSE and industry represerrtatives; this one day forum wilt
discuss programs, equipment, and grant dollars available to assist with energy.

6) Small Business Stert Up and Development Series
The series of classes is designed to provide the A to Z of how to start up your own small
business. The classes will include business plenning, na:mes, location, marketing,
borrowing, programs, etc:
7) Emergency Planning fot Your Business
This one day class will introduce our business community to Emergence Operations and
Planning and provide valuable information to assist our community in the next big
emergency event.
