3. A PRE -CONSTRUCTION MEETING SHALL BE REQUIRED PRIOR TO THE START OF
ALL CONSTRUCTION. CONTACT THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT AT 253-931-
3010 TO SCHEDULE A MEETING.
4. LOCATIONS SHOWN FOR EXISTING UTILITIES ARE APPROXIMATE. THE
CONTRACTOR IS CAUTIONED THAT OVERHEAD UTILITY LINES MAY NOT BE

APPROVAL. IF THE CITY BELIEVES THAT THE PROPOSED HAUL ROUTE WILL
ADVERSELY IMPACT THE STREET NETWORK, HAULING MAY BE LIMITED TO
APPROPRIATE OFF-PEAK HOURS OR ALTERNATE ROUTES.
6. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PUBLIC SAFETY ON AND
AROUND THIS PROJECT. PRIOR TO THE START OF WORK, ALL METHODS AND
EQUIPMENT USED FOR TRAFFIC CONTROL AND STREET MAINTENANCE SHALL BE
SUBMITTED TO THE CITY FOR APPROVAL. CONTRACTORS AND THEIR SURETY
SHALL BE LIABLE FOR INJURIES AND DAMAGES TO PERSONS AND PROPERTY
SUFFERED BECAUSE OF CONTRACTORS OPERATIONS OR NEGLIGENCE

Notes & Requirements
GENERAL NOTES:
1. Coordinate work with other trades as required.
2. Locate all underground utilities prior to commencing work to avoid damage to
buried pipes and cables.
3. Provide protection for all property, persons, work in progress, structures, utilities,
walls, curbs and paved surfaces from potential damage arising from this work.
The Contractor shall pay for any such damage at no additional cost to the Owner.
Unfinished and completed work shall be protected from erosion or trespassing,
and proper safeguards shall be erected to protect the Public from injury or danger.
PLANTING NOTES:
1. Planting shall occur between November 1 and March 30th to insure sufficient rainfall
to plants during establishment. If planting occurs outside of this window, provide
tempory irrigation to supplement watering.
2. Verify location of plantings with Project Engineer prior to commencing work.
3. Verify that site conditions are acceptable prior to beginning work. Do not
install any site elements or plant material until unsatisfactory conditions are
corrected. When conditions detrimental to plant growth/constructed elements are
encountered, immediately notify the Owner.
4. Substitutions or changes in materials and placement shall be made only after
written change orders are accepted by the Owner.
5. Protect existing tress to remain and plant material located on adjacent property
prior to commencing work. Place fencing material at dripline of trees and shrubs.
See Existing Tree & Vegetation Protection Detail.
6. Planting soil for trees, shrubs, groundcoverand lawn areas shall be Pacific Topsoils
or Cedar Grove Three -Way Top Soil mix or approved equal.
7. Plants shall be pit planted with a prepared mix of 50 % native soil and 50 % Topsoil Mix.
See planting details for depth and staking requirements.
8. Fertilize all installed plants during backfill operations with 4-2-2 Agro Transplanter
as recommended by manufacturer. Topdress shrub/groundcover beds (prior to mulch
application) with Newlife 10-20-20 at the rate of 2lbs. per 1000 square feet.
9. Mulch all planted areas with a minimum 2 inch (21 depth of composted vegetative matter
'mulch'. Finish grade of mulch shall be one inch (1 ") below top of adjacent hard surface.
10. All plant material to be nursery grown stock and arrive on -site in a healthy, vigorous,
well branched, disease and insect free condition.
11. Plant trees, shrubs and groundcover as shown in the planting details. Roughly scarify sides
of the planting pits. Install plant material high enough above finish grade to allow
for settlement and mulch. Water plant pits throughly midway through backfilling and
add fertilizer tablets. Balled and burlapped material that cannot be installed immediately
shall be .4ee/ed in, mulched and watered regularly to keep root balls moist.
12. Hydrose6ded Areas: All areas disturbed by grading shall be hydroseed with an Erosion Control
Blend of 35 % Chewings Fescue, 35 % Perennial Rye, 15 % Clover and 15 % Western Washington
Wildflower Mix. Hydroseed mulch shall be Silva -fiber or approved equal. Binding agent shall be
J-Tac or approved equal. Apply seed at a rate of 7 lbs. per 1000 square feet. Apply 10-20-20
fertilizer at a rate of 10 lbs, per 1000 square feet. Apply hydroseed mulch at a rate of
40 lbs. per 1000 square feet and binding agent at a rate of 1 lb. per 1000 square feet. Reseed
any areas which do not germinate within 14 days.
13. Provide landscape maintenance immediately after planting and continue until final Owner's
acceptance. Work shall include watering, spraying, fertilizing, pruning, resetting of plants,
restoring eroded areas, adjustments to staking and removal of weeds/debris as required
for healthy plant growth. Provide water to plant material through plant establishment period.
14. Inspection And Acceptance: The Owner will make an inspection for Substantial Completion
of the work upon request by the Contractor.
15. Replacement of Plantings: Remove any plant from site that is either dead, or in
unsatisfactory condition as determined by the Owner or Landscape Architect. Replace with
a new planting of equal size and species as soon as conditions permit within the normal
planting season. All replacement plantings are them to be under re -instated guarantee period
as specified. Identify those replacements and take whatever measures necessary to prevent
similar demise of additional plant material.
