A. WITHIN THE CITY OF AUBURN, ALL REQUIRED RETENTION OR DETENTION,
SEDIMENTATION AND EROSION CONTROL FACILITIES MUST BE CONSTRUCTED
AND IN OPERATION, PRIOR TO LAND CLEARING AND/OR OTHER
CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES, TO INSURE THAT SEDIMENT —LADEN WATER AND
STORM DRAINAGE RUNOFF DOES NOT IMPACT THE ADJACENT PROPERTIES
OR THE NATURAL DRAINAGE WAYS,
B. THE DETENTION, SEDIMENTATION (RETENTION IF INFILTRATION SYSTEM IS
USED) AND EROSION CONTROL FACILITIES DEPICTED ON THE APPROVED
DRAWINGS ARE INTENDED TO BE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO MEET

WHICH ARE SCHEDULED TO REMAIN UNWORKED FOR MORE THAN 30 DAYS,
SHALL BE STABILIZED WITHIN 10 DAYS.
FROM OCTOBER 1 TO MARCH 31, EARTHWORK ACTIVITIES SHALL BE
CONDUCTED IN STAGES IN ORDER TO MINIMIZE SOIL EXPOSURE. EXPOSED
SOILS WITH AN AREA GREATER THAN 5,000 SF THAT ARE SCHEDULED TO
REMAIN UNWORKED FOR MORE THAN 24 HOURS AND EXPOSED AREAS OF
LESS THAN 5,000 SF THAT WILL REMAIN UNWORKED FOR MORE THAN 7
DAYS SHALL BE STABILIZED IMMEDIATELY.
G. EASTERN EDGE OF SITE SHALL BE STAKED BY A LICENSED SURVEYOR.
H. COMPACTION TESTS FOR ALL FILL SITES TO FOLLOW GEOTECHNICAL
ENGINEERS RECOMMENDATIONS. PROVIDE CITY INSPECTOR WITH COPIES OF
DENSITY TEST REPORTS.
CONSTRUCTION SEQUENCE
THE GENERALIZED SEQUENCE DURING THE CONSTRUCTION LIFE OF
THE PROJECT IS AS FOLLOWS:
1. SCHEDULE AND ATTEND PRECONSTRUCTION CONFERENCE WITH
OFFICIALS OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, FRANCHISED UTILITIES (I.E.,
TELEPHONE, POWER, GAS, CABLE TV), CONTRACTOR AND OWNER'S
REPRESENTATIVE.
2. FLAG THE LIMITS OF CLEARING AND/OR WORK AREA.
3. INSTALL ROCKED CONSTRUCTION ENTRANCE AND PERIMETER
SILT FENCING.
4. PROVIDE INTERIM CATCH BASIN PROTECTION FOR ALL
EXISTING DRAINAGE STRUCTURES ON —SITE OR ADJACENT TO WORK
AREA.
5. CLEAR AND GRUB SEDIMENT POND AREA.
6. CONSTRUCT SEDIMENT POND PER PLANS INCLUDING OUTFALL,
FILTER FENCES, EMERGENCY SPILLWAY, GRAVEL CONE, STAND
PIPE AND GRAVEL BERM.
7. CONSTRUCT INTERCEPTOR SWALES AND PIPING TO DIRECT
RUNOFF TO SEDIMENT PONDS.
8. GRADE SITE PER APPROVED GRADING PLAN. PROVIDE
ADDITIONAL INTERCEPTOR SWALES TO DIRECT SITE RUNOFF TO
SEDIMENT POND. REVIEW PERIMETER EROSION CONTROL AND ADD
ADDITIONAL PROTECTION AS REQUIRED.
9. ROUGH GRADE ROADWAYS AND LOT AREAS. EXTEND AND/OR
RELOCATE INTERCEPTOR SWALES AS REQUIRED. DIRECT ALL SILT
LADEN RUNOFF TO SEDIMENT PONDS PRIOR TO DISCHARGE.
10. MAINTAIN EROSION CONTROL ELEMENTS. INSPECT ALL SILT
FENCES WEEKLY AND REPLACE, REPAIR OR ADD ADDITIONAL
FENCES AS NEEDED OR DIRECTED BY THE INSPECTOR.
11. HYDROSEED OR MULCH ALL DISTURBED AREAS IMMEDIATE
AFTER COMPLETING GRADE.
12. UPON APPROVAL BY THE INSPECTOR, AFTER ALL
CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY IS COMPLETED (IN EACH APPROVED
PHASE), THE SITE IS STABILIZED AND PERMANENT STORM
DRAINAGE HAS BEEN INSTALLED, REMOVE THE REMAINING

THE FOLLOWING INSPECTION AND MAINTENANCE PRACTICES WILL
BE USED TO MAINTAIN EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROLS:
1. ALL CONTROL MEASURES WILL BE INSPECTED AT LEAST
ONCE EACH WEEK AND FOLLOWING ANY STORM EVENT OF 0.5
INCHES OF RAINFALL OR GREATER.
2. ALL MEASURES WILL BE MAINTAINED IN GOOD WORKING
ORDER; IF A REPAIR IS NECESSARY, IT WILL BE INITIATED WITHIN
24 HOURS OF REPORT.
3. BUILT UP SEDIMENT WILL BE REMOVED FROM SILT FENCES
WHEN IS HAS REACHED ONE—THIRD OF THE HEIGHT OF THE
FENCE.
4. SILT FENCES WILL BE INSPECTED FOR DEPTH OF SEDIMENT,
TEARS, TO SEE IF THE FABRIC IS SECURELY ATTACHED TO THE
FENCE POSTS, AND TO SEE THAT THE FENCE POSTS ARE FIRMLY
EMBEDDED.
5. THE SEDIMENT POND/TRAPS WILL BE INSPECTED FOR DEPTH
OF SEDIMENT, AND BUILT UP SEDIMENT WILL BE REMOVED WHEN
THEY REACH 10 PERCENT OF THE DESIGN CAPACITY OR AT THE
END OF THE JOB.
6. V—DITCHES AND CHECK DAMS WILL BE INSPECTED AND ANY
BREACHES PROMPTLY REPAIRED. REMOVE SEDIMENTS FROM
BEHIND CHECK DAMS AT SUFFICIENT INTERVALS TO PREVENT
BYPASS.
7. INSPECT TEMPORARY AND PERMANENT SEEDING AND
PLANTING FOR BARE SPOTS, WASHOUTS AND HEALTHY GROWTH.
REPLANT AS NECESSARY.
8. A MAINTENANCE INSPECTION REPORT WILL BE MADE AFTER
EACH INSPECTION.
9. PERSONNEL SELECTED FOR INSPECTION AND MAINTENANCE
RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE ADEQUATELY TRAINED IN ALL
PRACTICES NECESSARY FOR KEEPING EROSION AND SEDIMENT
CONTROLS USED ONSITE IN GOOD WORKING ORDER.

1. THE BERM EMBANKMENT SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED ON
COMPACTED SOIL (95% MIN. DRY DENSITY, STANDARD PROCTOR
METHOD PER ASTM D1557). PLACED IN 6" LIFTS WITH THE
FOLLOWING SOIL CHARACTERISTICS PER THE UNITED STATES DEPT.
OF AGRICULTURE'S TEXTURAL TRIANGLE: A MINIMUM OF 30% CLAY
AND A MINIMUM OF 60% SAND. A MAXIMUM OF 60% SILT, WITH
NORMAL GRAVEL AND COBBLE CONTENT (NOTE, IN GENERAL
EXCAVATED GLACIAL TILL WILL BE WELL SUITED FOR BERM
EMBANKMENT MATERIAL).
2. POND BERM EMBANKMENTS MUST BE CONSTRUCTED BY
EXCAVATING A "KEY" EQUAL TO 50% OF THE POND EMBANKMENT
CROSS —SECTIONAL WIDTH (EXCEPT ON TILL SOILS WHERE THE KEY
MINIMUM DEPTH CAN BE REDUCED TO 1' OF EXCAVATION INTO THE
TILL.
3. COMPACTION TESTS FOR ALL FILL SITES TO FOLLOW GEOTECHNICAL
ENGINEERS RECOMMENDATIONS. PROVIDE CITY INSPECTOR WITH COPIES
