(PRIVATE DEVELOPMENT)
1. ALL MATERIALS AND WORKMANSHIP SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH
THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE LATEST STATE OF WASHINGTON,
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION STANDARDS SPECIFICATIONS FOR
ROAD AND BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION AND PIERCE COUNTY PUBLIC ROAD
STANDARDS.
2. INSPECTION OF THE STORM DRAIN SYSTEM MUST BE CALLED FOR
BEFORE ANY BACKFILL IS PLACED FOR THE DRAIN SYSTEM.
3. CATCH BASINS SHALL BE TYPE 1 WITH B-2A FRAME AND GRATE
UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED.
4. IF ADEQUATE INSPECTION IS NOT CALLED FOR BEFORE COMPLETION
OF THE ROADWAY CONSTRUC710111, IT MAY PE NECESSARY FOR CORE
DRILLING AND TESTING TO BE PERFORMED TO ASSURE AN ACCEPTABLE
QUALITY OF ROADWAY. WHEN CORE DRIWNG IS FOUND TO BE
NECESSARY, THE DEVELOPER WILL BE BILLED AND HELD RESPONSIBLE
FOR ALL COSTS INCURRED.
5. IT WILL BE THE DEVELOPER'S OR HIS AGENT'S RESPONSIBIUTY TO
CONTACT ALL UTILITY COMPANIES IN ORDER TO ASSURE THAT ALL
RUES, PIPES, POLES, AND OTHER APPURTENANCES ARE PROPERLY
LOCATED AND THEIR INSTALLATION IS COORDINATED WITH THE ROAD
CONSTRUCTION. ALL UTILITY RELOCATION WORK SHALL BE AT THE
EXPENSE OF THE DEVELOPER AND MUST BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH
STANDARDS ADOPTED BY THE COUNTY PRIOR TO ROAD ACCEPTANCE.
6. CULVERT PIPE SHALL BE 12-INCH CONCRETE CULVERT PIPE UNLESS
OTHERWISE NOTED.
7. BURIED UTIUTIES ARE SHOWN IN THEIR APPROXIMATE LOCATION.
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL HAVE THE UTIUTIES VERIFIED ON THE
GROUND PRIOR TO ANY CONSTRUCTION.
S. BEFORE WORKING IN PIERCE COUNTY RIGHT-OF-WAY, THE CONTRACTOR
AND/OR APPLICANT SHALL PROVIDE PROOF OF LIABILITY INSURANCE
N AN AMOUNT SUFFICIENT TO PIERCE COUNTY RISK MANAGEMENT
(AND SHALL POST A 11FINANCIAL GUARANTEE TO ASSURE

9. A FINANCIAL GUARANTEE IN THE AMOUNT OF $ TO
ENSURE THE CORRECTION OF DEFECTIVE IMPROVEMENTS, WILL BE
REQUIRED AND WILL REMAIN IN EFFECT FOR A PERIOD OF 18 MONTHS
FROM THE TIME THAT PIERCE COUNTY ACCEPTS THE ROAD FOR
MAINTENANCE.
10. ON -SITE EROSION CONTROL MEASURES SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY
OF THE APPUCANT. ANY PROBLEMS OCCURRING BEFORE FINAL
ACCEPTANCE BY PIERCE COUNTY, AND WITHIN 18 MONTHS
THEREAFTER, SHALL BE CORRECTED BY THE DEVELOPER.
11. ANY REVISIONS TO THESE PLANS MUST BE MADE BY THE ENGINEER
AND APPROVED BY THE COUNTY PRIOR TO ANY IMPLEMENTATION IN
THE FIELD.
12 ALL PAVEMENT MARKINGS SHALL CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF
THE M.U.T.C.D. AND THE PIERCE COUNTY STANDARD PAVEMENT
MARKING DETAIL.
13. THE COUNTY MAY CHOOSE TO DO ALL STRIPING, BUTTONING, AND
DELINEATION WORK AND CHARGE THE APPUCANT FOR ACTUAL COSTS
INCURRED BY THE COUNTY. THE APPLICANT SHALL CONTACT THE
TRAFFIC OPERATIONS CENTER AT 531-6990 TO COORDINATE AND
VERIFY COUNTY AVAILABILITY.
14. A COPY OF THESE APPROVED PLANS MUST BE ON THE JOB STE
WHENEVER CONSTRUCTION IS IN PROGRESS.
15. PIERCE COUNTY SHALL BE NOTIFIED 48 HOURS BEFORE CONSTRUCTION
IS STARTED.
16. TEMPORARY CUL-DE-SAC: FILL UNPAVED PORTION OF 40-FOOT
RADIUS WITH 2-INCH COMPACTED DEPTH CRUSHED SURFACING TOP
COURSE AND SLOPE AT 2X TOWARDS THE ROAD AND LEVEL TO THE
THICKENED EDGE.
17. SLOPES TO BE STABILIZED TO PREVENT EROSION. IN CASE EROSION
OCCURS IN DITCHES, DITCH LINING IS TO BE PROVIDED AS
REQUESTED AND SPECIFIED BY 171E COUNTY.
18. ALL TYPE 2 CATCH BASINS OVER 4 FEET IN HEIGHT SHALL HAVE
STANDARDS STEPS.
19. WHERE NEWLY CONSTRUCTED PAVING MEETS EXISTING PAYING,
OVERLAY AND FEATHER NEW PAVEMENT TO PROVIDE A SMOOTH
TRANSTION FROM EXISTING TO PROPOSED PAVING. APPLY TACT
COAT TO ENSURE PROPER BONDING.
20. PROVIDE 8-FOOT SHOULDER OF 2-INCH COMPACTED DEPTH MINIMUM
CRUSHED SURFACING TOP COURSE AROUND ENTIRE RADIUS AND TAPER
TO EXISTING SHOULDER ON BOTH SIDES. (SEE PLAN MEW FOR
TYPICAL LOCATIONS.)
21. ALL PAVEMENT TYPES WITHIN EXISTING COUNTY RIGHT-OF-WAY SHALL
NOT BE CUT FOR A PERIOD OF TWENTY-FOUR (24) MONTHS AFTER THE
PAVEMENT HAS BEEN CONSTRUCTED OR RESURFACED. PUSHING,
HOLE -HOGGING, PULUNG, ETC., MUST BE EXPLORED ON ALL ROAD

1. ALL WORKMANSHIP AND MATERIALS SHALL CONFORM TO THE CITY OF
AUBURN'S REQUIREMENTS AND SPECIFICATIONS,
STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS SHALL BE 1994 APWA AS MODIFIED BY THE
CITY OF AUBURN.
2. A COPY OF THESE APPROVED PLANS AND APPLICABLE CITY DEVELOPER
SPECIFICATIONS AND DETAILS SHALL BE ON THE SITE DURING
CONSTRUCTION.
3. PRIOR TO STARTING CONSTRUCTION, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CALL
ONE -CALL (1-BCD-424-5555) FOR UTILITY LOCATIONS (WATER, SANITARY
SEWER, STORM SEWER, GAS, POWER, TELEPHONE AND TELEVISION).
4. DURING CONSTRUCTION, CONTRACTOR SHALL BE REQUIRED TO CONTROL
ON -SITE STORM WATER RUNOFF BY USING TEMPORARY EROSION/SILTATION
CONTROL PROCEDURES. NO SEDIMENT -LADEN STORM WATER SHALL BE
ALLOWED TO DISCHARGE INTO THE CITY OF AUBURN'S STORM DRAINAGE
SYSTEM OR ONTO ADJACENT PROPERTIES.
5. LOCATIONS OF EXISTING UTILITIES ARE APPROXIMATE, IT SHALL BE THE
CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO DETERMINE THE TRUE ELEVATIONS AND
LOCATIONS SO AS TO AVOID DAMAGE OR DISTURBANCE WRING
CONSTRUCTION.
6. ALL DOWNSPOUTS SHALL BE DIRECTED INTO THE STORM DRAINAGE SYSTEM.

BY THE CONTRACTOR IF WARRANTED BY THE SOIL CONDITIONS AND IF
DIRECTED BY THE DIRECTOR/CITY - OF BONNEY LAKE.
7. CONTRACTOR SHALL REMOVE SOFT CLAY OR MUCK IF ENCOUNTERED AND
BACKFILL WITH CLEAN SAND OR OTHER ACCEPTABLE MATERIAL.
8. FORTY-EIGHT HOURS PRIOR TO BEGINNING CONSTRUCTION, CONTACT
CITY OF BONNEY LAKE CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR AT 862-8602 AND
NOTIFY THE CITY OF YOUR INTENT TO START. BE ADVISED THAT
ALL PIPE AND APPURTENANCES MUST BE INSPECTED PRIOR TO
BACKFILL AND FOUR HOURS NOTICE TO FOLLOW-UP INSPECTION IS
REQUIRED. ALL CONSTRUCTION SHALL CONFORM TO THE CITY OF
BONNEY LAKE STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS AND A COPY OF SAID
SPECIFICATIONS SHALL BE AVAILABLE ON THE JOB SITE AT ALL
TIMES.
9. AFTER THE PIPE AND APPURTENANCES ARE IN PLACE AND THE SYSTEM
HAS BEEN SATISFACTORILY PRESSURE TESTED, IT SHALL BE FLUSHED
MATH WATER OF SUFFICIENT VELOCITY TO REMOVE ALL DIRT AND
OTHER FOREIGN MATERIALS, AND DISINFECTED/CHLORINATED IN
ACCORDANCE MATH RECOMMENDED AWWA AND THE CITY OF BONNEY LAKE
STANDARDS. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL REQUEST A BACTERIOLOGICAL
SAMPLE TO BE TAKEN AT LEAST 24 HOURS AFTER FLUSHING AND
DISINFECTING.
10. CONTRACTOR SHALL REPAIR AND REPLACE ALL CULVERTS, DRIVEWAYS,
MAILBOXES, AND OTHER STRUCTURES ENCOUNTERED IN CONSTRUCTION.
DRIVEWAY CULVERTS DAMAGED DURING CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE
REPLACED WITH MINIMUM 12" DIAMETER CONCRETE CULVERT PIPE.
ALL IMPROVEMENTS WHICH ARE DISTURBED IN ANY FASHION DURING

I . Contractor to verify all dimensions, elevations, and setbacks in the field. Any variations are to be
immediately brought to the attention of the geotechnical engineer.
2. Contractor is responsible for worker safety, shoring and bracing, and erosion protection.
3. Geogrid reinforced fill is to be placed print to construction of the rockery. A temporary form is
recommended to maintain the shape, line, and grade of the reinforced fill face during construction.
4. Grogrid reinforced fill shall comply with the pond berm for structural fill and shall be compacted to at least
95 percent of ASTM: D-1557.
5. inspection of subgrade, placement of base course, drainage, geogrid reinforced fill and finished rockery by
the geotechnical engineer is required.
6. Rock shall be sound and have a minimtun density of 160 pounds per cubic foot. The long dimension of ail
rocks shall be placed perpendicular to the wall. Rock sizes shall be graded from 3-man to 2-man top to
bottom. Each rock shall beer on two rocks in the ner below. Rocks shall be placed so that no open voids
greater than6 inches in any direction exist. After setting each rack course, all voids between rocks shall be
chinked from the back with quarry rock to fill any void sufficient to pass a 2-inch square probe.
7. Geogrids are to be Miragrid 5T, or equivalent, approved by the geotechDical engineer. Geogrids are to be
installed in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations.
