Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 2:03 pm by Bryce Landrud. Those board members
attending in addition to Mr. Landrud were Lonnie Sundal, Jan Speer, Len Elliott, Arnie Galli and
Karen Wright. Also present at the meeting were Parks Horticulturist Kirk Hadley, Environmental
Planner Jamie Kelly and Parks Secretary Julie Mehl.
Minutes
November minutes were reviewed and approved with changes: change 2nd & N St NE to 2nd &
O St NE, change 15 trees to 14 and add planted on Main St. Change 100 Kwanzan Cherry
Trees to 21 trees, to bring the total to 100. Delete VII. C.
III. Correspondence /Public Input
A. The Auburn Reporter wrote an article about Justin Maner's Eagle Scout project at Les Gove
Park. Len has offered to be liason between the Tree Board and the Auburn Reporter.
IV. Old Business
A. Jan Speer authored a "to do" list for Fall /Winter tree care to be submitted to the Auburn
Reporter. The board unanimously approved.
B. Significant tree — Kirk did not make it out to look at the recommended tree at 2nd & O NE.
Another possible tree would be the Oak in Ballard Park. Bryce suggested we get two trees
nominated during the winter months so we can focus on other issues in Spring /Summer.
Lonnie still likes the Oak tree by Radio Shack. Jamie Kelly will try to contact property owner
of tree near Radio Shack. Jan suggested we have a proclamation for the Significant Tree go
through council. Julie will look into getting this on the agenda. Bryce would like the board
to decide at January meeting.

VII. Department Report
A. ]amie Kelly often works.with citizens on various tree care issues. Karen Wright has been
waiting for some answers�egarding citizen pruning for some time now. Bryce would like to
see,information regarding tree cere issues in Auburn's City 6ode. The City of Kent has
clearly w�itten codes for their tree issues: ]amie will look into.
B. The Parks Departrnent;planted 176 trees in calendar year 2011. Sam's Ciub has donated
10,000 6ulbs to the City of Aubum this year. ..

There being no further business, the meeting was adjoumed at 3:00 pm.
