HomeMy WebLinkAbout4864 RESOLUTION NO. 4 8.6 4 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, EXPRESSING THE OPPOSITION OF THE AUBURN CITY COUNCIL TO THE PLACEMENT OF KING COUNTY SOLID WASTE DISPOSAL TRANSFER SITES AT 1380 C STREET NORTHWEST AND 901 C STREET SOUTHWEST IN AUBURN, WASHINGTON WHEREAS, for years, the Auburn area has been served by King County solid waste transfer station located in Algona, Washington, and efforts have been made by King County, the City of Algona and area communities to address the needs for improvements to the Algona transfer station including transportation and logistical accessibility; and WHEREAS, in connection with the needed improvements to the Algona transfer station, King County has been exploring alternative sites in the south King County area and has identified parcel numbers 1221049014 and 2421049054 as two sites in Auburn which are targeted for exploration for use as the south King County transfer site; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Auburn, Washington has evaluated the two sites which are located at 1380 C Street Northwest (Parcel Number 1221049014) and 901 C Street Southwest (Parcel Number 2421049054) in Auburn and has concerns about their suitability for the transfer site purposes. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, HEREBY RESOLVES as follows: Section 1. The City Council expresses its collective opposition to the location of King County solid waste transfer station location at 1380 C Street Northwest (Parcel Resolution No. 4864 September 28, 2012 Page 1 of 2 Number 1221049014), further identified in the attached Exhibit "A" and 901 C Street Southwest (Parcel Number 2421049054), further identified in the attached Exhibit ``B." Section 2. A copy of this resolution shall be provided to King County Executive Dow Constantine and the King County Council. Section 3. That the Mayor is authorized to implement such administrative procedures as may be necessary to carry out the directives of this legislation. Section 4.
