Tuesday, August 7, 2012 Meeting Minutes
Present: Greg Watson, Alan Abdulkader, Cary Davidson, Nickole Evans, Leslie Moore, DeNae

I. Call to Order, Approval of Minutes, Introductions and Approval of Minutes:
Chair Greg Watson called the meeting to order at 4:35 pm. Ronie Schwend moved to approve the July
2012 meeting minutes. Greg Watson seconded the motion. All approved. Motion approved.
II. Public Art
Lea Hill Park Public Art call -to- artists received 50 applications and a sub - committee selected three
artists to develop a proposal. Staff shared images from the three artists selected. The sub-
committee will meet on August 24 to interview the artists and select the artist for a public art
commission.
Outdoor Sculpture Gallery Call -to- artists is being distributed with the deadline of August 28, 2012.
Background information was provided and proposed that the selection will occur at the September 11
Arts Commission meeting.
III. 2013 Visual Arts Calendar
Staff provided an overview of the visual arts exhibits and opportunities for the 2013 upcoming year.
Including City Hall Gallery, Senior Center Gallery, Small Works, Big Presents Exhibition at White River
Valley Museum, ArtRageous Juried Show, High School Art Exhibition and the Auburn Valley Creative Arts
new location. An update was also provided on the Storefronts program. Staff provided an overview of
the marketing plan and the quarterly brochures that are created and mailed to distribution lists.
IV. ArtRageous Evaluation
Staff provided background of the festival as well as the rational for changing locations from Les Gove
Park to downtown location. A summary of the day was provided and an evaluation was distributed to all
participating artists, vendors, volunteers and community members. Discussion continued and
recommended that all comments would be compiled and reviewed by the Visual Art Committee in order to
make a recommendation back to the Commission.
V. Updates /Announcements /Upcoming Events
• Staff distributed the BRAVO 2012 -13 Performing Arts Season Brochure
• Plein Air Painting event will be held on Sunday, August 12 at the Mary Olson Farm
• Outlaw Days theatrical experience will be held Sept 29 /30and Oct 6/7 at Mary Olson Farm
• The September meeting will be rescheduled from Tuesday, September 4 to Tuesday, September
11, 2012
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 6:05 p.m.
