OVERVIEW
The project area has had a history of surface flooding, particularly in the vicinity of C Street NE at the
north end of the airport and easterly along 30th Street NE. The existing underground stormwater pipe
within 30th Street NE has a limited capacity to adequately convey storm water to the existing storm
pump station in Brannan Park.
The purpose of the 30th Street NE Area Flood Mitigation, Phase 1 project is to replace the existing
stormwater pipe with a larger 42 inch diameter pipe to collect and convey the storm water to the
existing storm pump station in Brannan Park. The new pipe will be installed within 30th Street NE just
west of the Auburn Municipal Airport to I Street NE, then down I Street NE before continuing easterly
within an existing public utility easement, and along the north side of Brannan Park to the existing pump
station. Please see the map shown above.

How will this affect my commute?
No streets will be closed between 7AM & 9AM,
and 3PM & 6PM, however temporary lane closures on
30th Street NE at Auburn Way N and 30th Street NE and
I Street NE is anticipated.
When will construction occur?
Construction will occur between 7AM & 6PM,
in compliance with the City’s noise ordinances for
construction projects, except night time construction is
anticipated for work within the Auburn Way N/30th St.
NE intersection to reduce traffic impacts to the public.
Will my utilities be affected?
City provided utility services will be maintained during
construction, however temporary disruption in water
and/or sewer services may occur to adjust existing
utilities to allow for the new pipe line.
Where can I expect construction to take place?
Construction is limited to public street right-of-
way; Brannan Park, or within existing public utility
easements. Construction within public utility easements
on private property is limited to the north side of
Riverside East Retirement Home.
Will I still have access to businesses and residential areas?
Access to residences and businesses will be maintained,
however the existing north entry and driveway off I
Street NE to the Riverside East Retirement Home must
be reconstructed. This access will be unavailable for use
during the portion of construction across the property.
Brannan park will remain open, although a strip along the
north side of the park will be fenced off from public use
to allow for construction.
