AUBURN WAY SOUTH PEDESTRIAN IMPROVEMENTS, DOGWOOD STREET TO FIR
STREET
AND AUBURN WAY SOUTH CORRIDOR IMPROVEMENTS, FIR STREET TO
HEMLOCK STREET
The Office of the City Clerk will receive sealed bids at the Auburn City Hall, 25 West Main Street,
Auburn, Washington until 11:00 AM PST on March 3, 2015, and will then and there be opened and
publicly read aloud at the City Hall. All bids shall be filed with the City Clerk on or before the time set
for bid opening.
The major items of work include roadway and utility improvements to Auburn Way South (SR164)
from Dogwood Street SE to east of Hemlock Street SE, including construction of a joint utility trench
with City, Puget Sound Energy, Comcast, and Century Link facilities, removal and construction of
asphalt pavement, curb/gutter and concrete flatwork, clearing and grubbing (including tree removal),
hazardous materials abatement, demolition, and removal of a residential structure, rock wall removal,
preparation of a storm water pollution prevention plan, implementation of temporary erosion and
sediment control measures, traffic control, construction of storm drain pipe, structures, and bio-
retention facilities, installation of water main, services, and appurtenances, installation of a new traffic
signal, pedestrian crossing with warning beacons, street lighting, property restoration, landscaping, and
signage. The proposed bid range for the project is from $3,800,000 to $4,100,000. The entire project,
including cleanup, shall be physically completed within 140 working days. There are no-Federal
monies funding the construction of this project. However, Federal funds were utilized in the project
design phase and therefore, Buy America Provisions are applicable. This project is funded, in part, by
a grant from the Washington State Transportation Improvement Board (TIB), contributions from the
Muckleshoot Indian Tribe, and by the City of Auburn.
All bid proposals shall be accompanied by a bid deposit in cash, certified check, cashier’s check or
proposal bond (surety bond) in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the amount of such bid
proposal. Should the successful bidder fail to enter into such Contract and furnish satisfactory
Contract Bond within the time stated in the Bid Documents, the bid deposit shall be forfeited to the
City of Auburn.
Disadvantaged, Minority, and Women’s Business Enterprises are encouraged to respond. The City of

available exclusively through the City of Auburn’s online plan room. Access is provided by going to
Builders Exchange of Washington (http://www.bxwa.com) and clicking on: “Posted Projects”;
“Public Works”; “City of Auburn”, and “Projects Bidding”. Bidders are encouraged to “Register”
in order to receive automatic email notification of future addenda and to be placed on the “Bidders
List”. This online plan room provides bidders with fully usable online documents, with the ability to
download, print to your own printer, order document sets from numerous reprographic sources, and a

irregularities and to accept any bid if such action is believed to be for the best interest of the City of
Auburn.
