Maintenance of smoke detectors shall be the responsibility of the building owner or agent who shall maintain the device in accordance to the instructions of the manufacturer.. When an occupancy is vacated, the building owner or agent shall insure that smoke detectors are operational prior to re - occupancy. Section 6.. Smoke detectors required by this Ordinance shall be installed in all occupancies, listed in Section 1 by not later than eighteen (18) months after the adoption of this Ordinance. Section 7. Any person violating any provision of'this Ordinance shall, upon conviction thereof, be punished by a fine of not more than Three Hundred Dollars ($300.00). Section 8.. That this Ordinance shall take effect and be in force five (5) days from and after its passage, approval, and publication, as provided by law.
