ORDINANCE NO. 4 2 6 2
2 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, AMENDING
AUBURN CITY ORDINANCE NO. 4229, CODIFIED AS TITLE 18 ZONING, BY ADDING
3 NEW SUBSECTIONS TO CHAPTER 18.04 (DEFINITIONS) AND 18.34 (USE REQUIRING
4 A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT).
5 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
6 Section 1. City of Auburn Ordinance No. 4229, codified as Title 18
7 (Zoning), is hereby amended to add the following new subsections relating to
8 solid waste and solid waste processing facility definitions:
9 1118.04.023 - Solid Waste.
10 Solid waste" means all putrescible and nonputrescible solid and semiso-
1 1 lid wastes including, but not limited to, garbage, rubbish, ashes, industrial
12 wastes, swill, demolition and construction wastes, abandoned vehicles or parts
13 thereof, and discarded commodities."
14 1118.04.025 - Solid Waste Processing Facility.
15 Solid waste processing facility" means the management, collection,
16 transportation, temporary storage, treatment, utilization, and processing of
17 solid wastes by means of pyrolysis, refuse -derived fuel, or mass incinera-
1 8 tion within an enclosed structure. These processes may include source separa-
19 tion and recovery of recyclable materials from solid wastes, the recovery of
20 energy resources from such wastes or the conversion of the energy in such
21 wastes to more useful forms or combinations thereof. This definition refers
22 to city-wide or regional scale operations and does not include solid waste
23 handling which is accessory to an individual principal use."
24 Section 2. City of Auburn Ordinanance No. 4229, codified at Title 18
25 -_
(Zoning), is hereby amended to add the following new subsection as a use
26 requiring a conditional use permit:

Section 3. The Mayor is hereby authorized to implement such administra-
tive procedures as may be necessary to carry out the directions of this
legislation.
Section 4. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force five (5) days
from and after its passage, approval and publication, as provided by law.

I certify that said Ordinance No. 4262 was duly passed by the Council
and approved by the Mayor of the said City of Auburn, on the 18th day of
January A.D., 1988.
I further certify that said Ordinance No. 4262 was published as pro-
vided by law in the Valley News, a daily newspaper published in the City of
Auburn, and of general circulation therein, on the 24th day of January A.D.,
1988.
