HomeMy WebLinkAbout42841 ORDINANCE NO. 4 2 8 4 2 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, AMENDING 3 AUBURN CITY ORDINANCE NO. 422.9, CODIFIED AS TITLE 18 ZONING, BY ADDING A NEW SUBSECTION TO CHAPTER 18.22, RO (RESIDENTIAL OFFICE DISTRICT). 4 WHEREAS, the RO, Residential Office District zone, is a new zone, and the 5 purpose of the RO zone is to recognize the established and potential pro- 6 fessional office areas as well as to be compatible with and preserve the resi- 7 dential character of these areas, and to provide for some limited commercial 8 activity. The RO zone is also meant to be a transition zone and the tran- 9 sition is two -fold. First, the RO zone allows for the transition from resi- 10 dential to office uses and the RO zone provides for a transition between the 11 adjoining residential uses and the more intensive uses; and 12 WHEREAS, given that the RO zone is primarily for professional office uses, 13 14 is meant to be a transition zone, and does allow for some commercial activity, 15 it is felt that an amendment as proposed would be consistent with the 16 Comprehensive Plan and compatible with the Zoning Ordinance. 17 NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: 18 Section 1. City of Auburn Ordinance No. 4229, codified at Title 18 19 20 (Zoning), is hereby amended to' add the following new subsection "8" as a use 21 in the RO, Residential Office District: 18.22.020 Permitted uses. 22 23 Hereafter all buildings, structures, or parcels of land shall only be used for the following, unless otherwise provided for in this Title: 24 25 8. Nonresidential multi -tenant buildings which were constructed prior 26 to June 15, 1987, the adoption date of Zoning Ordinance No. 4229, and were zoned C-1, to occupy any tenant space within the building 27 28 with a use that is permitted outright within the C-1 Chapter of Zoning Ordinance No. 4229. 29 30 31 --------------------- Ordinance No. 4284 32 Page One 4/26/88 n 1 Section 2. The Mayor is hereby authorized to implement such administra- 2 tive procedures as may be necessary to carry out the directions of this 3 legislation. 4 Section 3.
