AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN,
WASHINGTON, REPEALING AUBURN CITY SECTION 9.80.060 ENTITLED
"SWITCHBLADE KNIVES -SALE PROHIBITED" AND ENACTING A NEW
SECTION 9.80.060, ENTITLED "DANGEROUS WEAPONS -PROHIBITED."
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, DO
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. PURPOSE. The purpose of this amendment is
to prohibit the manufacture, purchase, sale, display,
disposition, use or possession of specified and defined
dangerous weapons and to expand the definition and types of
weapons prohibited.
Section 2. Section 9.80.060 of the Auburn City Code
entitled "Switchblade Knives -Sale Prohibited" as passed by
Ordinance No. 1602 (1963) is repealed in its entirety.
Section 3. There is added a new Section 9.80.060 to
the Auburn City Code which shall read as follows:
9.80.060 Dangerous weapons - Prohibited.
It is unlawful for a person to knowingly:
A. Manufacture, purchase, sell, display or dispose
of, use, or possess any instrument or weapon of
(sap), or metal knuckles, or spring'blade knife,
or any knife the blade of which is.automatically

released by a spring mechanism or other mechanical
device, or anv knife havina a blade which ovens or
falls or is elected into position by the force of
gravity, or by an outward, downward, or
centrifugal thrust or movement; or
B. Carry, exhibit, display or draw any firearm,
dagger, sword, knife or other cutting or stabbing
instrument, club, wrist rocket,or any other weapon
apparently capable of producing bodily harm, in a
manner, under circumstances, and at a time and
place that either manifests an intent to
intimidate another or that warrants alarm for the
safety of other persons.
C. Use any contrivance or device for suppressing he
noise of any firearm; or
D. Possess any device commonly known as "nun-chu-ka
sticks", consisting of two or more lengths of
wood, metal, plastic or similar substance
connected with wire, rope, or other means; or
E. Manufacture, purchase, sell, display or dispose
of, use, or possess any device commonly known as
"throwing stars" which are multipointed, metal

objects desianed to imbed upon impact from an
aspect.
F. Any person violating any of the provisions of this
section shall, upon conviction thereof, be
Punished by a fine not to exceed Five Thousand
Dollars or by imprisonment not to exceed one year,
or both such fine and imprisonment.
Section 4. The Mayor is hereby authorized to implement
such administrative procedures as may be necessary to carry
out the directives of this legislation.
Section 5. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in
force five (5) days from and after its passage, approval and
publication, as provided by law.

Clerk of the City of Auburn, a Municipal Corporation and
Code City, situate in the County of King, State of
Washington, do hereby certify that the foregoing is a full,
true and correct copy of Ordinance No. 4339 of the
ordinances of the City of Auburn, entitled "AN ORDINANCE."
I certify that said Ordinance No. 4339 was duly passed
by the Council and approved by the Mayor of the said City of
Auburn, on the the 5th day of July A.D., 1989.
I further certify that said Ordinance No. 4339 was
published as provided by law in the Valley Daily News, a
daily newspaper published in the City of Auburn, and of
general circulation therein, on the 9th day of July, A.D.,
1989.
