OF SECTION 13.04.280 ENTITLED "SERVICE CHARGES -PAYMENT DATES," AND ADDING A NEW SUBPARAGRAPH A TO PROVIDE A SPECIFIC DUE DATE ON UTILITY BILL PAYMENTS, AND AMENDING SUBPARAGRAPH A. OF SECTION 13.04.300 ENTITLED "SERVICE CHARGES -PAYMENT DELINQUENCY," TO CONFORM TO THE NEW LANGUAGE IN SECTION 13.04.280 SUBPARAGRAPH A. WHEREAS, the City of Auburn desires to extend the due date on utility bills from ten to fifteen days and to eliminate the present staggered due dates; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. PURPOSE. The purpose of this ordinance is to amend Auburn City Code Chapter 13.04 entitled, "Water Service -General Regulations", by deleting the present subparagraph A. of Section 13.04.280 entitled, "Service Charges -Payment Dates," and adding a new subparagraph A to extend the due date on utility bill payments from ten to fifteen days and to eliminate the present staggered due dates and amending subparagraph A. of Section 13.04.300 entitled, "Service Charges -Payment Delinquency," to conform to the new language in Section 13.04.280 subparagraph A. by deleting the first sentence. ------------------- Ordinance No. 4359 Page 1 July 25, 1989 1 2 3 4 5 6 7'i 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 Section 2. Subsection A of Auburn City Code Section 13.04.280 entitled "Services Charges - Payment Dates" is repealed and there is hereby added to Section 13.04.280 a new subparagraph A. to read as follows: A. Commencing August 21, 1989, payment for water service charges shall be due and payable in the office of the city treasurer fifteen days after the billing date appearing on the bill. Section 3. Section 13.04.300 entitled "Service Charges - Payment Delinquency", subparagraph A. is hereby amended as follows: A. The reminder will notify the customer that service will be subject to shut off without further notice if not paid within ten days. Ten days after the notices are sent accounts with outstanding balances will be charged a penalty of five dollars for residential accounts and one and one- half percent per month with a minimum of five dollars, ------------------- Ordinance No. 4359 Page 2 July 25, 1989 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 for nonresidential accounts. Service shall not be restored in the case of water and sewer until full payment of delinquent amount is received, together with penalty charges. If delinquency payment is not made in time for water personnel to resume service during normal working hours, water service will not be turned on until the next normal working day. Section 4. The Mayor is hereby authorized to implement such administrative procedures as may be necessary to carry out the directions of this legislation. Section 5.
