SANITARY SEWER CONSTRUCTION NOTES
1. Refer to General Construction Notes for general
requirements.
2. Sewer lines shall be laid to the grades and elevations shown
on the drawings and shall not be changed without City
approval.
3. Side sewer shall be installed from the City sewer main to
minimum of five feet IS') beyond the property line and shall
be a minimum six inches (6") in diameter with a one percent
(1%) minimum slope.
4. aide sewers shall be installed, where required by the
Engineer, using commercially manufactured tees and shall be
plugged with watertight plug. All joints shall be approved
rubber-gasketed joints. (The location of the side sewers
shall be marked at the end of the line inside property by a
pressure treated 2 x 4, four feet (41) long buried in the
ground a distance of three feet (31). The lower and shall
have a 2 x 4 cleat nailed to it to prevent withdrawal of the
stake. The exposed one foot (11) shall be painted traffic
yellow and the depth to the side sewer or tee shall be
indicated in black paint on the 2 x 4.) In addition, the

in the top of the curb before the concrete hardens to

5. Location of side sewers shall only be changed as required
during construction upon authorization of City. Contractor
shall notify Engineer when exact locations are determined.
6. Contractor shall obtain any necessary side sewer connection
permits from the City of Auburn prior to construction.
7. It shall be the Contractor's responsibility to insure that
no conflicts occur between sanitary sewer lines and proposed
or existing utility lines during construction.
8. Unless otherwise approved, all connections to existing sewer
main with new tees shall be done by the City of Auburn. The
Contractor shall be responsible for pipe intallation, trench
excavation, back fill and pavement restoration.
9. Ten foot (101) horizontal separation shall be maintained as
a minimum between sewer and other existing or proposed
utilities.
10. One foot (10) vertical separation shall be maintained as a
minimum between sewer and other utilities when a crossing of
utilities occurs. If one foot (11) minimum is not possible,
then a sand cushion shall be provided as directed by the
Engineer.
11. All connections of SDR 35 PVC pipe to manholes shall be made
by using A.C. or GPH manhole adaptors, or approved equal.
12. Pipe for sanitary sewers shall be SDR 35 PVC when pipe cover
exceeds thirty-six (3611) inches. Reinforced concrete sewer
pipe, SDR 21 PVC, or Ductile Iron Class 52 can be used when
approved, and primarily for oversizing pipe and deep or
shallow trenches.
13. The maximum laying lengths shall not exceed twelve feet six
inches (1216") for SDR 35 pipe.
14. Bedding for PVC pipe shall be 5/811 Minus Crushed Rock, four
inches (4u) under to six inches (610) minimum over the pipe.
15. Bedding for concrete and ductile iron pipe shall be 5/8"
Minus Crushed Rock, six inches (611) under to six inches (6")
minimum over the pipe.
16. All pipe trench backfill material shall be Class "A" Bank
Run Gravel, modified by the City of Auburn.
17. Pipe trench backfill material within the right-of-way shall
be 5/811 Minus Crushed Rock when connection is perpendicular
to the City street.
Ia. An oil/water separator will be required to connect building
floor drains to the sanitary sewer.

GENERAL CONSTRUCTION NOTES
1. All workmanship and materials shall conform to the City of
Auburn's requirements and specifications.
2. standard Specifications shall be 1981 APWA as modified by
the City of Auburn, including Auburn's Standard drawings.
3. A copy of these approved plans shall be on -site during
construction.
4. Pre -construction meeting shall be required prior to any on -
site work for all Public Facility Extension projects
5. ONB-CALL (1-800-424-5555) for utility locations (water,
sanitary sewer, storm sewer, gas, power, telephone and
television).
6. During construction, Contractor shall be required to control
on -site storm water runoff by using temporary
erosion/siltation control procedures. No sediment laden
storm water shall be allowed to discharge into the City of
Auburn's storm drainage system or onto adjacent properties.
7. Locations of existing utilities are approximate. It shall
be the Contractor's responsibility to determine the true
elevations and locations so as to avoid damage or
disturbance during construction.
8. Existing pavement surfaces shall be saw cut full depth with
straight, uniform edges. All joints between the new and
original pavement shall be painted with asphalt emulsion
(CSS-1).
9. The Contractor shall install, replace, or relocate all
signs, as shown on the plans or as affected by construction,
per the City's Standard detail.
10. Electric and telephone lines shall be in a trench with a
minimum horizontal separation from other utilities (sewer,
water, storm) of five feet.
11. All construction surveying for extensions of public
facilities shall be done under the direction of a licensed
land surveyor or a licensed professional Civil Engineer.
12. During construction, all public streets adjacent to this
project shall be kept clean of all material deposits
resulting from on -site construction, as directed by the
City.
13. Certified As -built drawings are required prior to project
acceptance. Refer to "Certified As -built Requirements".
14. When utility easements are required, the minimum width shall
be fifteen feet (151), depending on depth and location, and
no permanent structure shall be constructed within a
distance of ten feet (101) of said easement.
15. The City of Auburn has established typical Trench Excavation
and Backfill Drawings to be used for the installation of
utilities. Refer to these drawings for details before
starting construction.
16. All required landscaping shall conform with City of Auburn
Zoning Ordinance, Section No. 18.50.
17. For MH G CB rim adjustment, maximum adjustment with brick of
rims and castings shall be fourteen inches (1411) without
adding new sections.
18. All manholes and catch basins in public right-of-way or
easements shall be adjusted after asphalt paving.

GENERAL CONSTRUCTION NOTES
FOR
GRADING, DRAINAGE AND EROSION CONTROL
1. Within the City of Auburn, all required retention/detention,
sedimentation and erosion control facilities must be
constructed and in operation, prior to land clearing and/or
other construction activities, to insure that sediment -laden
water and storm drainage run-off does not impact the
adjacent properties or the natural drainage ways.
2. The retention/detention, sedimentation and erosion control
facilities depicted on this drawing are intended to be
minimum requirements to meet anticipated site conditions.
Additional drainage and erosion control facilities may be
required as situations warrant during construction. The
implementation, maintenance, replacement and additions to
these control systems shall be the responsibility of the
permittee.
3. The retention/detention control pond shall remain in place
until the permanent storm system is in place and
operational.
4. The Temporary erosion control facilities, including all
perimeter controls, shall remain in place until final site
construction is completed and approval has been received
from the City.
5. On projects with Grading Permits only, and for which no
subsequent Building Permit has been issued, an as -built
drawing will be required upon completion of grading
activities.
