MINUTES
CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 9:12 am by Mayor Nancy Backus.
In attendance: Mayor Nancy Backus, Bob Fraser, Satpal Sohal, Christian Faltenberger
Excused Absence: Susan Roberts
Unexcused Absence: Aman Ghag, Andy Cho
Staff present: Doug Lein, Economic Development Manager; Lorraine Chachere, Tourism
Coordinator
II. APPROVE DECEMBER MEETING MINUTES
Committee Member Fraser motioned to approve the December meeting minutes.
Committee Member Faltenburger seconded the motion.
MOTION PASSES UNANIMOUSLY 4—0.
III. ELECTION OF VICE CHAIR
Committee Member Faltenburger was nominated for the role of Vice Chair.
Committee Member Fraser made a motion to appoint Committee Member
Faltenburger for the role of Vice Chair. Committee Member Sohal seconded the
motion.
MOTION PASSES UNANIMOUSLY 4-0.
IV. REVIEW 2018 GRANT APPLICATIONS
Upon review of the requested addendums received from all four applicants, the
following LTAC recommendations would be adopted into a resolution for Council's
review.
Committee Member Fraser made a motion to request a budget amendment of
$6,200 to grant the total recommended amount of$16,500 for$7,500 to Tough
Mudder, $3,500 for Petpalooza; $3,500 for Veterans Day Parade; and $2,000 for
Seattle Parrot Expo. Vice Chair Faltenburger seconded the motion.
MOTION PASSES UNANIMOUSLY 4—0.
V. HIGHWAY SIGNAGE
Based on interest expressed at the previous LTAC meeting as well as at the Auburn
Tourism Board, BIA Rate Payer Board about improving and expanding signage to

generate awareness what services are available and to entice motorists to make a
stop in Auburn, Coordinator Chachere researched the cost, requirements of highway
signage and created a summary. As for possible opportunities, the Northwest
Regional Representative for WADOT indicated said research would not be initiated
unless applications from interested businesses are submitted. The LTAC suggested
that someone coordinate those efforts to which Coordinator Chachere committed to
doing so.
VI. NEXT MEETING
The next meeting will be on Wednesday, April 11th at 10AM in the Council
Chambers.
