CONTRACTUAL AGREEMENT FOR PROFESSIONAL SERVICES
The City of Auburn agrees to contract:

To perform the following professional services: Provide a fully coordinated and programmed
Literary Showcase during AuburnFest.
The contractor is required to perform said services on: Saturday, August 11", 2018 from
I1am-7pm (Will be on site the evening before or early the morning of the event for
unloading and set-up). Contractor agrees to plan, organize, and manage this event and all of
the guest speakers. Contractor is responsible for set-up and take down of the event.
Contractor will also be responsible for coordinating a food option on-site (if desired).
Contractor will provide their own volunteers if needed for the event, although a city staff
member will check in to make sure everything is prepared and as -needed for the event.
The agreed fee to be paid is: $350
The agreed fee will be paid in 1 payment, $350.00 paymentprovided by check at the conclusion
of the event, executed as planned by organization and agreed upon by city staff.
The City shall provide the following technical assistance for this service:
• Complimentary use of the Auburn Community & Event Center Community Rooms
1-3 venue rental for event
• Tables and chairs
• Promotion of event via website, emails, Facebook, poster, etc.
The City may terminate all or art of this contract with or without cause at any time. The City
will provide support services department brochure, printing programs, flyers, etc.) to the
contractor regarding the event upon request. The City will provide working references for the
contractor upon request.
Contractor shall defend, indemnify and hold the City, its officers, officials, employees and
volunteers harmless from any and all claims, injuries, damages, losses or suits including attorney
fees, arising out of or resulting from the acts, errors or omissions of the Contractor in performance
of this Agreement, except for injuries and damages caused by the sole negligence of the City.
The Contractor must provide a Washington State Patrol Criminal Background check, in
compliance with RCW 43.43.830 et seq., for themselves and/or their employees where any person
will or may have unsupervised access to children under sixteen years of age, or to
developmentally disabled persons, or to vulnerable adults during the course of his or her
employment or involvement with the business or organization..
The contractor shall notify and receive approval from the Special Events Coordinator for any
substitutes, changes, or cancellations in the above-named performed service. Subcontracting of
the services of this contract is not allowed unless prior approval is received by the department.
The Contractor agrees and understands that he/she is an independent contractor and not the agent
or employee of the City. The manner and means of providin the professional services herein are
under the sole control of the Contractor. The Contractor shah be solely responsible for reporting

his/her hours, earnings, income tax, and social security to the applicable federal and state
agencies: The contractor understands that he/she is not entitled to any of the benefits provided by
an employer to, employees including but not limited to disability and unemployment insurance.
The City of Auburn and the Contractor have executed this agreement as of July 16, 2018.

To perform the following professional services: Provide a public Poetry Event at the Auburn
Avenue Theater during National Poetry Month.
The contractor is required to perform said services on: Friday, April 27", 2018 from 7pm-9pm.
(Will be on site between 4pm and 5pm for unloading and set-up. Contractor agrees to plan,
organize, and manage this event and all of the guest poet laureates including Auburn's Poet
Laureate, Marjorie Rommel. Contractor is responsible for set-up and take down of the
event. Contractor will also be responsible for coordinating a food option on-site (if desired).
Contractor will provide their own volunteers if needed for the event, although a city staff
member will be present to act as a house manager for the event.
The agreed fee to be paid is: $500
The agreed fee will be paid in 1 payment, $500.00 payment provided by check at the conclusion
of the event, executed as planned by organization and agreed upon by city staff.
The City shall provide the following technical assistance for this service:

• House manager for event
• Tables (up to 5), chairs (up to 30)
• Promotion of event via website, emails, Facebook, etc.
