Rased on the attached. it is our recommendation that VRFA continue to use City of Auburn services for technology infrastructure: voice and data COnIrT]Unll'at10n5, as well as (;IS services. The staffing and contracts in place to support this infrastructure could not be duplicated by VRFA at similar costs. Mnual costs for City of Auburn to provide these services are estimated to be S4i,000 plus I additional Information Sen~ices F"TE. An additional one time project cost of $27,000 is estimated to upgrade the phone systems in use by the ~'KF:1 when the City upgrades those services next year. Communications costs associated with VRFA expansion of staff or technology infrastnrcture would he in addition to these casts. ~~ e flrrther recommend that I~RFA network be separated from the City of Auburn network and that the VRFA budget ti)r the resources required to maintain and operate the VRFA network and to support VRFA desktop and apparatus equipment. Under this scenario. the City of Auburn would provide woicc and data conununications services to each of the facilities much like a telecomnutnications vendor. VRFA stuff would manage sen•ers, sottware applications, personal computers and other technolo~~y used by VRFA allowing more control over their clay to day operations and technical environment. Attached is a document that gives more details as to the ser~•ices provided and the costs associated with those sen•ices. Please note this only takes into consideration costs that have been absorbed by the City of Auhurn in providing services this year. Any expenses paid directly by VRFA in 2(107 and an_y costs associated with new or expanded services would be in addition to these esti-nates. Please feel free to call me if you have additional questions about this information or my reconT-ncndation.
