Background Summary:
At the Council Retreat in early March 2020, the Council reviewed the City’s General Fund long
range forecast, explored the details of the BERK Consulting Study (originally presented to
Council on February 10, 2020), and helped guide budget strategy f or the upcoming 2021-
2022 biennial budget. Since the Council Retreat, COVI D-19 has come into play, which has
accelerated and exacerbated the General Fund sustainability issues the City was expecting to
see in the 2021-2022 biennium. This presentation is a General Fund update and we will
discuss 2020 revenue shortfalls, mitigation ef f orts and saving strategies for 2020, and
preview very preliminary 2021-2022 projections.
