A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AUBURN, WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY
CLERK TO EXECUTE THREE GRANT AGREEMENTS BETWEEN
THE CITY OF AUBURN AND THE FEDERAL AVIATION
ADMINISTRATION RELATING TO PROJECT NO. CP2213,
RUNWAY AND TAXIWAY IMPROVEMENTS AND RSA GRADING
WHEREAS, the completion of the Runway and Taxiway Improvements
and Runway Safety Area (RSA) Grading project ("Project") at the Auburn
Municipal Airport is a necessary part of responsible airport facility management
and maintenance, and ensures the continued usability and safety of the runway
and taxiways for aircraft use; and
WHEREAS, the Project is an integral part of the most recent Airport Master
Plan, which was approved by the Federal Aviation Administration ("FAA") and the
Washington State Department of Transportation; and
WHEREAS, the City of Auburn (the "City") applied to the FAA for a grant of
up to $450,000, or 90% of the total estimated design cost of the Project, to be
used for the design phase of the Project; and
WHEREAS, the City plans to apply to the FAA for a grant of up to $67,500,
or 90% of the total estimated Airport Geographic Information System ("AGIS")
cost of the Project, to be used for the AGIS phase pf the Project; and

WHEREAS, the City plans to apply to the FAA for a grant of up to
$3,600,000, or 90% of the total estimated construction cost of the Project, to be
used for the construction phase of the Project; and
WHEREAS, an estimated $457,500 of matching funds are required to fully
fund the Project; and
WHEREAS, the City plans to apply to the Washington State Department of
Transportation for three matching grants of up to $228,750, or 5% of the total
estimated cost of the Project, to be used for the design, AGIS and construction
phases of the Project; and
WHEREAS, the City has available, and is willing to provide, up to $228,750
in the 465 Airport Fund as the matching funds. Alternatively, the City has
available, and is willing to provide, up to $457,500 in the 465 Airport Fund as
matching funds if the requested Washington State Department of Transportation
grant funds are not awarded; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City to use FAA grant monies to
finance capital improvements to the Auburn Municipal Airport.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AUBURN, WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES as follows:
Section 1. The Mayor and City Clerk are authorized to execute and
administer three grant agreements between the City and FAA for a total of

$4,117,500 or any other amount authorized by the FAA for the Project as long as
matching funds are available and the Project is within the Cities adopted budget.
Section 2. The Mayor is authorized to implement such administrative
procedures as may be necessary to carry out the directions of this legislation.
Section 3. That this Resolution shall take effect and be in full force upon
passage and signatures.
