HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 3503RESOLUTION NO.3 5 0 3 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND Cl'fY CLERK TO SIGN A LEASE AGREEMENT.. WITH THE WHITE RIVER VALLEY HISTORICAL SOCIETY (SOCIETY) TO ENABLE THE SOCIETY TO RAISE FUNDS FOR, AND MAKE IMPROVEIvIFtN'I'S TO PRESERVE AND DEVELOP THE BUILT ENVB20NMENT AT OLSON FARM WHEREAS, the City of,Auburn owns the historical site known as Olson Farm and wishes to preserve and develop the farm in accordance with the Olson Farm Master Site Plan; and WHEREAS, the White River Valley Historical Society is a skilled community group able to engage in activities to aid in the preservation and development of this historic site; and WHEREAS, the White River Valley Historical Society has raised funds that could be used toward the goals of the Olson Farm project; and WHEREAS, it would benefit both the City of Auburn and the community for the parties to enter into an agreement to reach these goals; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, HEREBY AGREE as follows: Section 1. That with this agreement the City hereby leases to the White River Valley Historical Society the built environments at Olson Farm as described in the Lease Agreement, herein attached and denominated as Exhibit A, for a period of five (S) years and for a fee of One and No/100s Dollars ($1.00) annually. 1'he purpose of this lease agreement is to divide the preservation and development of the Olson Farm built environments from that of the natural environment, and to allow the Society to make improvements in accordance with the Olson Farm Master Plan. The built environments, and any improvements, will remain the property of the City at the end of th#s lease agreement. Section 2. That the Society, tivith the assistance of the Museum Director and the curator staff, will coordinate work behveen themselves and the City to preserve ,and develop the built Resolution No. 3503 July 29, 2002 Pnge I of 2 environments in conformity with the Olson Farm Site Plan. Any improvement in excess of Five Hundred and No/100s Dollars ($500.00) will require written consent of the City. The Society will prepare an annual report reviewing work accomplished on the site and plans for any future work. Section 3. That the. City's responsibility will be to provide day-to-day management and physical upkeep of the farm site,, provide utilities (water and sewer), and staff the grounds. In addition, they will coordinate any use or activity on the farm property that may affect the, built environments, and reserve the right to enter the built' environments for tours, inspections, and activity review.
