COMMISSION COMMITTEE

MINUTES
CALL TO ORDER
Vice Chair Ronnie Beyersdorf, called the meeting to order at 2:12 P.M. via a Zoom teleconference call. Committee members present were: Nancy Colson, Grantley Martelly, and Judith Anderson.
Staff members present included: Director of HR & Risk Management, Candis Martinson, and Assistant Director of HR, Aaron Barber.
REVIEW OF THE PURPOSE, OPERATION, AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE INDEPENDENT SALARY COMMISSION
Martinson had emailed the code stating the purpose of the Independent Salary Commission prior to the meeting to the commission. There was a reminder that it was inappropriate for the
commission to discuss with Councilmembers or the Mayor regarding the salaries and the decisions made by the Independent Salary Commission.
REQUIRED TRAINING FOR THE INDEPENDENT SALARY COMMISSION
The YouTube video was sent in advance of the meeting by Martinson. All of the commissioners replied that they had watched the video prior to the meeting.
APPROVAL OF THE MAY 28, 2020 MEETING MINUTES
Beyersdorf called for a motion to approve the May 28, 2020 meeting minutes and Colson moved to approve the May 28, 2020 Independent Salary Commission meeting minutes. Anderson seconded
the motion. It was voted and approved unanimously 4:0.
REVIEW OF CITY COUNCIL AND MAYOR SALARY FOR 2020/2021
There was discussion and comments made by all of the commissioners in attendance after reviewing the survey information provided by Human Resources.
It was moved by Colson for the Council and Mayor to receive a five percent (5%) salary increase. This was seconded by Anderson. Further, the Mayor’s salary increase would be effective
on January 1, 2022. It was voted and approved unanimously 4:0.
SCHEDULING OF NEXT MEETING
It was decided that there was no need to have another meeting in 2021. The Commission will meet again in 2022.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 3:15 p.m.
