City of Auburn Arts Commission, and Park Board Meeting
Tuesday, March 7, 2023

Meeting Minutes
Present:
Arts Commission: Kristine De Leon, Tammy Dwight, Tracy Gallaway, John Harris, Trisenda Mayfield,
Ann Marie Natali, Chris Olds, Tori Olsen, Dinah Rau, Tracy Taylor-Turner
Excused: Anna Kear, Eydie Leighty
Staff: Mary Ellen Bowers, Arts Assistant; Allison Hyde, Arts Coordinator; Julie Krueger, Arts & Events

Meeting participation – this meeting was available both in person and via virtual attendance on Zoom.
I. Call to Order
a. Call to Order – Chair Natali called the meeting to order at 5:03 PM.
b. Public comment – Chair Natali asked if there were any comments from the public. There were
no public comments.
c. Approval of Arts Commission minutes - Chair Natali asked for a motion to approve the minutes
from the February 7, 2023, Arts Commission meeting. Commissioner Dwight moved that the
minutes be accepted as written. Commissioner Rau seconded the motion. Motion passed
unanimously.
II. Call to Order Parks Board
a. Call to Order – 5:04pm
b. Public comment – No public comment
c. Approve February 2023 Park Board Meeting Minutes
III. Tour of Auburn Arts & Culture Center
a. Parks & Recreation Director Daryl Faber welcomed the members of the Arts Commission and
Parks Board and gave a brief history of the acquisition and rehabilitation progress of the Arts &
Culture Center Building which is on schedule to open in late spring 2023.
b. Arts & Events Manager Julie Krueger gave a tour of the historic features of the building that
were uncovered and saved during rehabilitation.
c. Arts Coordinator Allison Hyde provided information about programming being planned for the
Arts & Culture Center.
IV. Updates and News
a. Arts Coordinator Hyde gave an update on current gallery exhibitions. Hyde invited Arts
Commissioners to jury the Auburn School District High School Art Exhibition by visiting the
Auburn Community and Event Center.
b. Manager Krueger reminded the group that the Auburn Community Players are in their final
week of Nunsense, a hilarious musical comedy.
c. Director Faber gave an update on 2 new playgrounds at Fulmer and Auburndale Parks. He
reminded the group that the Parks Department’s Summer Camp Guide is now available, and
spots are filling fast.
d. Director Faber encouraged Auburn citizens to visit the City website to take the Open Space
Survey.
V. Adjourn Arts Commission - There being no further business, Commissioner De Leon moved to
adjourn the meeting, Commissioner Dwight seconded the motion. Motion passed. The meeting
adjourned at 5:48 PM.
VI. Adjourn Parks Board – 5:49pm
