APPROVAL OF MINUTES A. Minutes of the February 7, 2023, Fire Relief and Pension Board meeting. (Recommendation: Board approve the February 7, 2023, minutes as distributed.) Page 2 IV. Approval of Claims Approval of Pension and Healthcare Benefit payments to Fire Relief and Pensioners for the period of January 1, 2023 through June 30, 2023 in the amount of $127,438.26 (Recommendation: Board approve the pension and healthcare benefit payments between January 1, 2023, through June 30, 2023) VI. ADJOURNMENT FIRE RELIEF AND PENSION BOARD February 7, 2023 2:30 PM VIRTUAL AND IN PERSON COUNCIL CHAMBER – AUBURN CITY HALL MINUTES I. CALL TO ORDER Mayor Nancy Backus called the meeting to order at 2:53 p.m. The meeting was held virtually and in person. Fire Relief and Pension Board Members present included Mayor Backus, Finance Director Thomas, and Fire Relief Pension retiree Bob Wigley. Fire Relief and Pension retiree Bill Petersen was excused. II. VIRTUAL PARTICIPATION The meeting was held virtually and in person III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES A. Minutes of the November 11, 2022 Fire Relief and Pension Board meeting. Motion by Member Peterson, second by Member Wigley to approve the November 11, 2022 minutes. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. 4-0 IV. UNFINISHED BUSINESS There was no unfinished business. V. NEW BUSINESS A. Boardmember Election – Term 2023-2024 Board Secretary Campbell informed the Boardmembers only one nomination, for Robert Wigley, was received. As such, the nominee is automatically appointed to the position as the Fire Relief and Pension Boardmember for the 2023-2024 term. B. Approval of Claims Motion by Member Peterson, second by Member Wigley to approve the expenses of the Fire Relief and Pension Fund. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. 4-0 Page 2 VI. Approval of Claims 2023 payments not yet approved: $115,256.16 has been paid in fire pension benefits for the pay period January 1, 2023 – June 30, 2023 and $12,182.10 has been paid January 1, 2023 – June 30, 2023 for healthcare benefits. Pensioners received overpayments totaling $6,138.18 through March 31, 2023. The City is collecting these overpayments over a three month period of time. Two pensioners have repaid the overpayment entirely as of 6/30/2023.
