HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-05-2024 Minutes Parks and Recreation Board Meeting Minutes th Tuesday, March 5, 2024 5:30 p.m. Virtual and In Person at Community & Event Center I. Call to Order 5:31 pm Attendance: Chair Michael Hassen, Vice-chair Mike Palko-Dean, members Peter DiTuri, Wayne Osborne, Tiffany Lindsay, and Matt Jennings. Staff in attendance were Park Planning manager Thaniel Gouk & Administrative Assistant Alexa Bragg II. Minutes February minutes were approved III. Committee Member Input IV. Correspondence/Public Input V. Old Business PROS Plan Update: no update yet VI. New Business Park Planning Manager Thaniel Gouk spoke about a pipe bursting in the northwest corner of the Les Gove Gymnasium a few weeks prior and the work that is going to be done to repair. The gym floor was still being assessed for damage by a contractor Thaniel stated the impact to programs, as the damage is still unknown in its entirety but there are plans to re-locate programs to other facilities Summer camp registrations are open and the first day brought in $140,000 of revenue VII. Department Report Park Planning manager Thaniel spoke about Cedar Lanes pump track being completed two weeks prior to the meeting, and a soft grand opening is planned for a date in April 2024 The Cedar Lanes restroom and storage facilities pre-fabrication are on order Building installation will be completed by May 2024 Forest Villa Tot Lot is having work done, including parts for a missing swing crossbar on order and play chips to be re-filled. Playground is almost complete The Postmark Center for the Arts is in Phase 2, the department has received permits to begin working on the lower level of the center The department applied for a $205,000 grant for the re-finishing of courts at Game Farm Park and Veteran’s Memorial Park th 104 AVE Park is still being worked on, Thaniel is working to find contractors and site plan designs The Driving Range at Auburn Golf Course is waiting for a Geo Tech engineer to give the OK to start building Thaniel spoke about the Memorial Bricks (1,100 bricks), some will be removed as they are ineligible ForestWalk Phase 3 has started at the Auburn MountainView Cemetery, the contractor awarded to this project was R.W. Scott Recreation Conservation Grants are due in a week – turfing more fields around the city but unsure of which fields exactly yet VIII. Adjournment 6:01pm
