MINUTES
WASHINGTON June 10, 2014
I. CALL TO ORDER
The Human Services Committee Meeting was called to order at 4:02pm on Monday, June 9, 2014 at
One East Main Street, Auburn, WA by Committee Chair, Jason Berry.
Committee Members present: Lela Brugger, Bette Van Gasken, Jason Berry, JoAnne Walters
Committee Members not present: Barbara Derda, Chuck Booth
Staff present: Director of Administration Michael Hursh, and Veterans/Human
Services Coordinator Erica Sullivan
Staff not present: Community Services Assistant, Emily Pearson
II. COMMITTEE OF A WHOLE
• Committee of a whole declared by Committee Chair Berry. Member Van Gasken
approved; Member Brugger seconded.
III. MINUTES
• Minutes from April 28, 2014 meeting will be reviewed and approved on July 28,
2014 Human Services Committee Meeting.
IV. AGENDA
• Miscellaneous
Committee members: Michael Hursh reported recent vacancies among the
committee. Committee members discussed prospective members and agreed to
begin actively recruiting within the next few months. Suggestions for new members
included representatives from the faith based, ethnic, school and Muckleshoot
community.
Community enhancements: Michael Hursh requested that the committee provide
feedback or suggestions on the community and its development.

• Application Cycle `15-16
Michael Hursh explained new and existing CDBG applicants and programs. The
committee agreed to have all ratings completed by the next committee meeting in July
and tentatively planned to have a final recommendation for funding ready by the
September meeting.
V. ANNOUNCEMENTS
Member Brugger stated that the Auburn Food Bank's annual fundraiser Empty Bowls _
raised over $7,000 and sold over 400 bowls.
VI. ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned at 5:05 p.m.
