CALL TO ORDER The Cemetery Board meeting of Tuesday, April 9, 2024, was called to order by Judi Roland at 2:00pm. Members present: Judi Roland, Arnie Galli, Tim Pierce and Robert Rakos Members absent: Jeanne Hicks Staff present: Immer Chevalier Staff absent: April Shank Cerio B. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Minutes from meeting on February 13th, 2024, were reviewed, no corrections or additions were made, and a motion was made, seconded and unanimously passed to approve as printed. C. Old Business  Pioneer Cemetery Incident – Last year after Christmas a drunk driver caused damaged to the Pioneer Cemetery fence and a few headstones. Driver was insured and the City’s Human Resources & Risk Management Department helped Immer dealing with Geico Insurance by providing all the information regarding labor and repairs costs. Geico issued and mailed a check last month. Check was received at the end of March and Immer made arrangements with All American Fencing to starts the repairs. The work should start Friday, May 24. Auburn Sports and Marine was contacted to keep them in the loop since their customers use the cemetery’s parking.  Forest Walk Phase III Construction – RW Scott Construction met on site on Monday, March 18 and started the work the following day. So far some of the mounds, paths and the dry creek have been completed. Next, they will be working on the stairs and bridge. The contractor is responsible for providing the soil, do the planting and water feature. The contract allows 30 working days.  Question by Arnie – He noticed a greenhouse being installed. Immer explained that it will help the cemetery to grow their own plants.  10th Addition Pre-Construction – Cemetery staff started the preparation of this section by cutting down the trees. Immer is requesting quotes from different companies to remove the wood, stumps and do the grading in preparation to plot the area. This section will have flat headstones and upright monuments in quads similar to Section 9B. D. New Business  Front Water Feature – After a power outage, cemetery staff noticed that the pump for the water feature stopped working. The City’s electrician didn’t find any electrical issues. Immer has received a couple quotes to replace the pump. She’ll schedule a time to get it fixed.  Easter Sunrise – This event was held at the cemetery near the 6th Addition. Rev. Chuck Harris of Messiah Lutheran Church presided over the service, which included music, Easter message and Holy Communion. The cemetery provided donuts and coffee. It was well attended.  Seasonal Employee – The cemetery received about 10 applications. Immer is looking over the applications and she will be doing phone interviews. The cemetery is looking to hire 1-2 Seasonals this year.  Backflow Check – The cemetery received the reminder for the annual backflow test report by Lakehaven in March. Out of the 2 devices, only 1 passed the test. The cemetery is waiting to receive different estimates to replace the old backflow and 2-4” gate valves. This replacement should cost about $10,500. E. Budget Reports  Budget Update –Feb-Mar 2024 Cemetery sales slowed down in February and March. Placements have maintained an average number.
