APPROVAL OF MINUTES • Member JoAnne Walters moved to accept the October 24, 2016 meeting minutes; Member Barbara Derda seconded the motion. All committee members were in favor of adopting the minutes as submitted. The October 24, 2016 meeting minutes were approved. III. AGENDA • Miscellaneous Maggie Kenison introduced herself to the group. Ms. Kenison, a recent graduate of the Civics Academy, wanted to attend a Human Services Committee meeting after learning about the Committee's functions during the Academy presentations in 2016. Emily Pearson, Human Services Program Coordinator gave an overview of contract meetings held to date with 2017-2018 funding recipients. Three programs were discussed for further clarification: Medical Services (Christ Community Free Clinic), Child & Family Services Community Services (Sound Mental Health) and Domestic Violence Services (YWCA). Christ Community Free Clinic requested their Number of Residents Served be adjusted to 771; Sound Mental Health requested their Service Unit #1/Case Management be adjusted to 75; and YWCA also asked that their Number of Residents Served be adjusted. The Committee approved the requests of Christ Community Free Clinic and Sound Mental Health. The Committee did not find YWCA's request of a reduction in service by nearly two-thirds to be acceptable. Emily and Erica Azcueta will discuss the matter further with YWCA program staff and report back to the Committee. The Committee once again discussed expanding its quorum number. The Committee is currently filled to its capacity with 7 members; however an expansion to 9 or 11 members might make more sense as additional programs were added in the current funding cycle and will therefore require more volunteer time to monitor these agencies and programs throughout the biennium. Director of Administration Dana Hinman spoke to the group about the upcoming Human Services Workshop, scheduled for Monday, January 30 at 5:30 pm during the City Council Study Session. The purpose of the discussion is for the City Council to receive an expanded view of Human Services activities as a whole, to include social service offerings from all departments in the City, not just the Community Services division. The Committee was invited to attend the public Study Session to provide support and information to Councilmembers. IV. ANNOUNCEMENTS • The next regular Human Services Committee meeting is scheduled for Monday, February 27, 2017. V.
