I. CALL TO ORDER
The Human Services Committee meeting was called to order by Chair Jason Berry at
4:05 pm on Monday, September 17, 2018 at 25 West Main Street, Auburn, WA.
Committee Members present: Barbara Derda,Jason Berry,JoAnne Walters, Lela Brugger, Maryelyn
Scholz
Absent: Dana Riel
Staff present: Human Services Manager Joy Scott, Human Services Program
Coordinator Emily Pearson
Absent: Director of Administration Dana Hinman
II. PUBLIC HEARING
• Joy Scott opened the Public Hearing for comment on the development of the 2019
Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Action Plan. No comments were
received, and the Public Hearing was closed.
III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
• Member Barbara Derda moved to accept the August 27, 2018 meeting minutes;
Member Lela Brugger seconded the motion. All committee members were in favor of
adopting the minutes as amended.
The August 27, 2018 meeting minutes were approved.
IV. MISCELLANEOUS
• 2019-2020 Funding recommendation discussion
The Committee members agreed to set aside three applications that were submitted
late: Christ Community Free Clinic, NAMI, and The Auburn Food Bank. It was noted
that these applications would not be considered for recommendation during today's
discussion.
The Committee discussed their recommendations at length. Joy will provide a
( clarified list of programs and allocation amounts to the Committee following the
September 24, 2018 Council Study Session. Recommendations will be presented to
the City Council during that meeting.
V. ANNOUNCEMENTS
• The next regular Human Services Committee meeting is scheduled for Monday,
October 22, 2018 at 4:00 pm
VI. ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned at 7:08 p.m.
