MISCELLANEOUS • Member Jason Berry began by relaying the he recently had a good conversation with the Community Wellness Special Focus group with Council Member Claude DaCorsi and Director of Community Development Jeff Tate. Councilmember Yolanda Trout-Manuel is also a part of the Community Wellness Special Focus group but was unable to attend this meeting. Director Jeff Tate discussed that Community Wellness Special Focus group and the Human Services Committee both have the same goals of providing services to Auburn residents and that the Joint Meeting will be a good opportunity for collaboration and goal setting. • Shawn Campbell joined the meeting at this time to refresh Committee members about processes and protocols for joint City Council and Committee meetings and reminded everyone that the Joint meeting is video recorded and that ceiling microphones are used instead of the table microphones used during full Council meetings. Shawn mentioned that Councilmember Trout-Manuel will call on either Committee members or Council members who would like to speak and that Council and Committee members can indicate they have comments by raising a hand. Shawn also mentioned that the Joint Meeting will begin with a roll call, with any excused absences verified by the Human Services Committee Chair. • Jeff added that the Joint meeting will be a good opportunity to ask questions about the Community Needs Assessment since Julie McFarland and Joel Warren from Cloudburt Consulting will be presenting on their findings and recommendations. The Council and the Human Services Committee will be getting this information at the same time so there will be time to ask questions and clarifications to Joel and Julie before the conversation between City Council and the Committee. • Kyla added that the Needs Assessment was likely to include funding priorities related to housing and homelessness as that was a topic that cited as a concern in every focus group in addition to the survey results from Auburn residents. • Barb and Sue mentioned that the Committee may want to revisit the Council mission statement as a good reminder and guiding principle as we move towards the application cycle. • Kyla brought up that the committee had previously considered taking a Winter hiatus during November and December due to the scheduled meetings being so close in date to holidays and that lieu of meetings, Kyla would schedule 1-on-1 meetings with Committee members during these two months. There was a suggestion to have a Committee holiday party at the end of the year. • The Vice-Chair nomination was tabled until next month. IV.
