CALL TO ORDER Chair Jim Kelly called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m. Present on the Zoom call included Chair Pro Tem Bill Petersen, Member Stan Laatsch, Member/Deputy Mayor James Jeyaraj, Member/Councilmember Bob Baggett, and Sr. City Attorney Doug Ruth. Also included on the Zoom call and in-person (Conference Room 3, City Hall) was Board Secretary Terry Mendoza. II. PUBLIC PARTICIPATION The Auburn LEOFF Disability Board meeting scheduled for Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. will be held in person and virtually. III. AGENDA MODIFICATIONS There were no agenda modifications. IV. CITIZEN INPUT AND/OR CORRESPONDENCE This is the place on the agenda where the public is invited to speak to the LEOFF Board on any issue. The public can participate in-person or submit written comments in advance of the scheduled meeting. Participants can submit written comments via mail, fax, or email. All written comments must be received 24 hours prior to 10:00 a.m. on the day of the scheduled meeting and must be 350 words or less. Minutes of the May 2, 2023, LEOFF Board Meeting* Motion by Member/Councilmember Baggett to approve the minutes as published. Second by Member Laatsch. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. 5-0 VI. UNFINISHED BUSINESS A. Pending Medical/Hearing/Vision/Dental Claims a. Requests approval of vision expenses in the amount of $69.54 for services received on April 24, 2023. Tabled from the Board’s May meeting for further documentation. Motion by Chair Pro Tem Petersen to table the claim until further information on medical necessity can be provided. Second by Member Laatsch. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. 5-0 b. Requests approval of medical expenses in the amount of $192.66 for equipment purchased on April 18, 2023. Tabled from the Board’s May meeting for further documentation. Motion by Chair Pro Tem Petersen to table the claim until further information on medical necessity can be provided. Second by Member/Councilmember Baggett. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. 5-0 c. Requests approval of medical expenses in the amount of $92.98 for equipment purchased on May 1, 2023. Tabled from the Board’s May meeting for further documentation. Motion by Chair Pro Tem Petersen to table the claim until further information on medical necessity can be provided. Motion by Member/Councilmember Baggett to approve the claim as submitted. Second by Chair Pro Tem Petersen. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. 5-0 2. LEOFF 1 Member #779147 Requests approval of dental expenses in the amount of $208.00 for services received on April 18, 2023. Motion by Chair Pro Tem Petersen to approve the claim as submitted. Second by Member Laatsch. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. 5-0 3. LEOFF 1 Member #349135 Requests approval of dental expenses in the amount of $6,500.00 for services received on May 9, 2023. Motion by Chair Pro Tem Petersen to approve the claim as submitted. Second by Member/Councilmember Baggett. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. 5-0 4. LEOFF 1 Member #310533 Requests approval of dental expenses in the amount of $2,502.00 for services received on May 10, 2023. Motion by Member/Councilmember Baggett to approve the claim as submitted. Second by Chair Pro Tem Petersen. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. 5-0 5. LEOFF 1 Member #635612 Requests approval of dental expenses in the amount of $326.70 for services received on May 13, 2023. Motion by Chair Pro Tem Petersen to approve the claim as submitted. Second by Member Laatsch. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. 5-0 C. Other Discussion 1. July meeting moved due to the Tuesday, July 4th holiday. New meeting date will be Tuesday, July 11th at 10:00 a.m. via Zoom and in-person (Conference Room 3, 2nd Floor, City Hall). 2. WSLEA Conference – May 9 th through 12th, 2023 City of Auburn Law Enforcement Officers and Firefighters Disability Board Tuesday, June 6, 2023 - 10:00 AM – *Virtual Meeting via ZOOM* LEOFF Board Minutes June 6, 2023 Page 4 Chair Pro Tem Petersen, Member Laatsch, and Member/Councilmember Baggett provided a summary of information discussed/presented at this year’s Washington State LEOFF Education Association’s Annual Conference. VIII.
