SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES
I. CALL TO ORDER
Chair Jim Kelly called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m.
Present on the Zoom call included Chair Pro Tem Bill Petersen, Member Stan Laatsch,
Deputy Mayor James Jeyaraj, Sr. City Attorney Doug Ruth. Also included on the Zoom
call and in-person (Conference Room 3, City Hall) was Board Secretary Terry Mendoza.
Councilmember/Member Bob Baggett was excused.
II. PUBLIC PARTICIPATION
The Auburn LEOFF Disability Board meeting scheduled for Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at
10:00 a.m. will be held in person and virtually.

Board Secretary Mendoza reported that there was no member from the public present at
the meeting, either virtually or in person.
III. CITIZEN INPUT AND/OR CORRESPONDENCE
This is the place on the agenda where the public is invited to speak to the LEOFF Board
on any issue. The public can participate in-person or submit written comments in
advance of the scheduled meeting. Participants can submit written comments via mail,
fax, or email. All written comments must be received 24 hours prior to 10:00 a.m. on the
day of the scheduled meeting and must be 350 words or less.

Board Secretary Mendoza reported that there was no correspondence received from the
public.
IV. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A. Minutes of the June 6, 2023, LEOFF Board Meeting*

Motion by Chair Pro Tem Petersen to approve the minutes as published. Second
by Deputy Mayor Jeyaraj.
MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. 4-0
V. UNFINISHED BUSINESS
A. Pending Medical/Hearing/Vision/Dental Claims
a. Requests approval of vision expenses in the amount of $69.54 for
services received on April 24, 2023. Tabled from the Board’s May
meeting for further documentation.
Motion by Chair Pro Tem Petersen to table the claim until further
information is received. Second by Member Laatsch
MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. 4-0
b. Requests approval of medical expenses in the amount of
$192.66 for equipment purchased on April 18, 2023. Tabled
from the Board’s May meeting for further documentation.
Motion by Chair Pro Tem Petersen to table the claim until further
information is received. Second by Deputy Mayor Jeyaraj.
MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. 4-0
c. Requests approval of medical expenses in the amount of $92.98
for equipment purchased on May 1, 2023. Tabled from the
Board’s May meeting for further documentation.
Motion by Chair Pro Tem Petersen to table the claim until further
information is received. Second by Deputy Mayor Jeyaraj.
MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. 4-0
VI. NEW BUSINESS
A. Medical/Hearing/Vision/Dental Claims
1. LEOFF 1 Member #948705
Requests approval of dental expenses in the amount of $130.00 for
services received on June 1, 2023.
Motion by Chair Pro Tem Petersen to approve the claim as submitted.
Second by Deputy Mayor Jeyaraj.

B. Other Discussion
1. Annual OPMA/PRA (Open Public Meetings Act/Public Records Act)
training for Boards & Commissions E:\Multimedia\City
Clerk\Shawn\2023 OPMA Training.mp4
The Board members and staff present completed the annual training
which was provided virtually: Chair Kelly, Chair Pro Tem Petersen,
Member Laatsch, Sr. City Attorney Ruth, and Board Secretary Mendoza.
Deputy Mayor/Member Jeyaraj was excused for this portion and will
complete the training at a later date.
VII. ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at
10:23 a.m.
