CALL TO ORDER Junior City Council December 13, 2023 - 7:00 PM Council Chambers AGENDA Meeting called to order by Chair Helms at 7:02 p.m. A. Roll Call Present: Chair Emily Helms; Vice Chair KhysnerAyo; Members Osiris Romero-Caldera, Lewand Muhsen, Savannah Lueck. Absent: Member Patricia Amadeo, Deputy Mayor James Jeyaraj. Staff present: Director of Administration Dana Hinman. 11. ANNOUNCEMENTS, PROCLAMATIONS, AND PRESENTATIONS 111. AGENDA MODIFICATIONS IV. CONSENT AGENDA All matters listed on the Consent Agenda are considered by the City Council to be routine and will be enacted by one motion in the form listed. A. Approval of November 8th, 2023 Minutes Vote to Approve Minutes from the November 22nd Meeting Approval of November 8, 2023 Minutes: Motion: Member Ayo; Second: Member Romero-Caldera - passed V. COMMITTEE REPORTS/EVENTS VI. DISCUSSION ITEMS A. Mayor's Open House This Thursday, December 14th at from 5-7pm at Junior Achievement Chair Helms reminded the AJCC that they are welcome to attend the Mayor's Holiday Open House on Thursday, December 14 at from 5-7pm at Junior Achievement. B. OPMA Training at Jan.10th AJCC Meeting Open Public Meetings Act, all members have to participate OPMA training, takes about 20 minutes. Chair Helms reminded the AJCC that all members are required to attend Page 2 of 2 the Open Public Meetings Act training on January 10. Member Ayo asked Director Hinman about what OPMA training is about. C. NLC Congressional City Conference The NLC Congressional Summit conference is from March 10th thru 13th. The City can send up to 4 AJCC Members, decide a system for choosing. AJCC chose the four members that will attend the NLC Congressional Summit conference on March 10-13: Emily Helms, KhysnerAyo, Savanah Lueck, Osiris Romero-Caldera. D. 2024AJCC Goals Think about what goals AJCC should focus on 2024. The AJCC expressed interest in pursuing a strong recruiting effort for middle school members. Director Hinman explained how the City staff can assist making contacts in the schools. Member Lueck requested to have a presentation from the local National Association for Mental Illness. Director Hinman agreed to find information on getting that scheduled for a future meeting. Vice Chair Ayo shared that a recent presentation at her school from local youth organizations on self -care could also be a good topic for the AJ CC to pursue.
