Meeting called to order by Vice Chair Ayo at 7:00 p.m.

Absent: Chair Emily Helms; Member Patricia Amadeo.

All matters listed on the Consent Agenda are considered by the City Council to be

A. Approval of February 28th, 2024 Minutes
Approval of the minutes from the February 28, 2024 meeting: Vice Chair
Ayo asked for a motion to approve minutes. Motion: Member Lewand
Muhsen; Second: Member Lueck passed.

VI. DISCUSSION ITEMS
A. Updates from the NLC Conference
Members Romero-Caldera and Lueck updated the council on their recent
trip to Washington, D.C. as part of the youth delegation for the National
League of Cities Congressional Cities Conference.
B. Presentation from Robin Hinz from the National Alliance on
Mental Illness (NAMI) (20 Minutes)

C. Update from Deputy Mayor Larry Brown
DM Brown informed the AJCC about the City's budget discussions and
strategic planning that began recently.
DM Brown explained how the City Council's four Special Focus Areas
function in regard to decision -making amongst the council. Vice Chair Ayo,
asked if all the council members are in an SFA. DM Brown explained that
having only two members per SFA avoids the open public meetings act
(OPMA).
D. Presentation to City Council
Discuss future date to present to City Council and who would like to present.
Suggestion for an NLC update and other topics.

Who we are...
The Youth Wisdom Council (YWC) is an internship opportunity with Puget Sound
Educational Service District (PSESD) that was created for Youth of Color to further the
goal of racial equity in the school districts and colleges within PSESD's service area.
The Youth Wisdom Council aims to:
• Support schools, districts and PSESD to elevate Youth of Color voice and
leadership across the region.
• Increase Youth of Color voice and engagement across district and college decision -
making tables.
• Build institutional capacity for valuing the time, space and opportunity for Youth
of Color voice and leadership.
• Strengthen and sustain connections with Youth of Color -centered communities.

What we do...
Youth Wisdom Council members are engaged in the brainstorming and
development process of the evolution and sustainabitity of our projects.
Youth will be able to come up with ideas, projects, and policies within the
various fields of focus they choose, such as social media, recruitment and
engagement, community conversations, and more. Every skill and piece of
insight from youth will be valued and contributes to the goats of the Puget
Sound Educational Service District.

The work of the Youth Wisdom Council is youth -led with support and resources provided by Puget Sound
Educational Service District staff: Angelica Alvarez, Director, Student & Family Centered Improvement Initiatives.
When working with the Youth Wisdom Council, members will be engaged in the brainstorming and development
process of the evolution and sustainability of our work. Youth will be able to come up with ideas, projects, and
policies within the various fields of tocus they choose, such as social media, recruitment and engagement,
community conversations, and more. Every skill and piece of insight from youth will be valued and contributes to
the goals of the Puget Sound Educational Service District.
Youth Wisdom Council interns will have a direct impact in their schools, colleges and community. In addition, they
gain teamwork and leadership skills, and build strong relationships with their peers. Interns are paid $16.28/hour
for their wisdom and experience.
