HomeMy WebLinkAbout5842RESOLUTION NO. 5842 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, CREATING A LIMITED -TERM POSITION OF RECREATION ASSISTANT — BICYCLE PROGRAMS TO ASSIST IN THE OPERATION OF CITY BIKE PROGRAMS WHEREAS, the City of Auburn received a grant from the Cascade Bicycle Club passed through from the Washington Department of Transportation which was used to establish and support the City's bicycle program; and WHEREAS, the City has used a portion of these grant funds to create a limited - term position titled Recreation Assistant — Bicycle Program to operate and administer the program; and WHEREAS, Council approved the creation of a new LTE Recreation Assistant position on December 2, 2024, with Ordinance 6961. WHEREAS, the funding for the Recreation Assistant — Bicycle Program position is available for the period of July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026, with the possibility of continuation contingent upon the availability of additional grant funds; and WHEREAS, it is in the City's interest to continue the Recreation Assistant — Bicycle Program position as long as grant funding for the bicycle program remains available. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, RESOLVES as follows: Section 1. Position Authorization The Limited -Term position of Recreation Assistant — Bicycle Program, created to operate the City's bicycle program, shall be funded by the Cascade Bicycle Club Bicycle grant for the period of July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026. Term of Position The position may continue to be filled beyond June 30, 2026, provided that sufficient grant funding remains available and is appropriated for such purpose. Section 3. Funding Source The position shall be funded exclusively by grant funds provided by Cascade Bicycle Club. No general fund monies shall be used to support this position unless authorized by subsequent Resolution. Section 4. Termination of Position The position shall automatically terminate upon the expiration or exhaustion of grant funding, unless otherwise authorized by the City Council. Section 5. This Resolution will take effect and be in full force on passage and signatures.
