Recruitment Ideas for Vacancies Chairperson Bryce says we can get in part of a booth at the Farmers Market; Administrative Assistant Alexa Bragg will assist in creating a pamphlet and tabling materials for Tree Board information. Chairperson Bryce says this might be the best option to see them face-to-face to encourage people to apply for the tree board meeting. Park Planning manager Thaniel mentioned an advertisement in the Auburn Magazine for vacancies for the tree board. B. Heritage Trees & Updating Webpage The Tree Board discussed moving on from the Dogwood tree as a 2025 Heritage tree and to find another tree for 2025 Heritage Tree list. Chairperson Bryce would like to have an interactive map of the city of Auburn's Heritage Trees on the city's webpage. Parks Planner Thaniel suggests it's one screen (instead of scrolling) and could be interactive. ACTION ITEMS UNFINISHED BUSINESS A. Improving Tree Equity Score - Brainstorm Ideas The tree board discusses a tree planting program for the City of Auburn. Chairperson Page 5 of 6 Bryce Landrud speaks about talking with the Tacoma Tree Foundation on how to acquire trees for a tree giveaway. Member Linda Bielejec suggests trees should be given away and planted in February (winter months). Member James Tournageau asked about the pine trees in Game Farm Park, and if they were taken down due to the pine trees being dead. Chairperson Bryce was unsure. Chairperson Bryce also states that pine trees are dying in droves. He thinks it's either climate or pine bark beetles. Member Linda states we shouldn't be planting Ponderosa Pines. Chairperson Bryce says he thinks it's only Ponderosa Pines dying, not other species of pine trees. Birch Trees should also be avoided in planting. Chairperson Byrce says most native trees should be good to plant; They will grow and adapt to the climate. Member Linda says getting the trees is one thing, but distributing them is another project. NEW BUSINESS Chairperson Bryce Landrud would like to prune the Norway Maple at the Postmark Center for the Arts, and potentially have it as a project for Clean Sweep 2026. Parks staff will talk with the Special Events Coordinator Amanda Valdez and Parks Maintenance manager Stefanie Coleman to see what they think about that idea.
