A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AUBURN, WASHINGTON, RATIFYING AND CONFIRMING
THE PROCLAMATION OF EMERGENCY MADE BY MAYOR
NANCY BACKUS ON DECEMBER 9, 2025
WHEREAS, the City of Auburn and surrounding areas received record amount of
rainfall beginning on December 8, 2025; and
WHEREAS, the United States Army Corp of Engineers released water from the
Mud Mountain and Howard Hansen Dams as part of their flood control measures; and
WHEREAS, the result of these events caused flooding within the City, which
affected property and businesses, and which caused a risk to life safety; and
WHEREAS, in response to these circumstances, Mayor Nancy Backus, on
December 9, 2025, proclaimed an emergency pursuant to Chapters 38.52 RCW and 2.75
ACC; and
WHEREAS, Auburn City Code Section 2.75.070(c) requires the proclamation to
be presented to the City Council at the earliest practicable time for ratification and
confirmation, modification, or rejection.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN,
WASHINGTON, RESOLVES as follows:
Section 1. The Proclamation of Emergency made by Mayor Nancy Backus is
ratified and confirmed.
Section 2. The City Clerk is authorized to make necessary corrections to this
Resolution including, but not limited to, the correction of scrivener's/clerical errors,

references, Resolution numbering, section/subsection numbers, and any references
thereto.
Section 3. This Resolution will take effect and be in full force on passage and
signatures.
