HomeMy WebLinkAbout2352ORDINANCE NO. 2325 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, DECLARING A PUBLIC EMERGENCY TO EXIST AND AMENDING CHAPTER 1.20.010 OF THE AUBURN,CITY CODE, SAID.,CHAPTER AMENDED RELAT— ING TO THE COMPENSATION TO BE PAID THE: MAYOR OF THE.CITY OF.,AUBURN. i WHEREAS,,HJR 13 approved by the voters of the State of Washijngton at the last General Election of November 5, 1968 authorized cities and towns to increase the salaries of elective officials during their term of office; and, WHEREAS, the City Council desires to increase the salary of the Mayor of the City of Auburn pursuant to said HJR 13 at this time in order to compensatle him for the increased services performed by himself for the City subsequent to his election as Mayor in 1964; and, WHEREAS, a public emergency now exists, due to the fact that no funds have been budgeted for said salary increase in the 1969 Budget of the City of Auburn as said HJR 13 was not passed until after the 1969 Budget of the City of Auburn was passed and approved, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section I. That Chapter 1. 20.010 of the Auburn City Code be amended, so that, as amended, said Chapter shall read as follows: 111.20.010 Mayor. As compensation for the services to be performed by the Mayor of the City of Auburn, said Mayor shall receive the sum of Six hundred and seventy—five dollars ($675.00) per month, for the period commencing with the effective date of this Ordinance, and thereafter; such compensation shall be paid monthly on the first day of each month next succeeding the month In which such services shall be performed, by proper warrants drawn upon the treasurer of the City of Auburn." Section 2. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to make the necessary appropriations for the salary increase granted in Section I of thi's Ordinance from "Unbudgeted Funds" in the Current Expense Fund of the City of Auburn. Section 3. That this Ordinance shall take effect five (5) days from and after its passage, approval and publication as provided by law. ATTEST: PUBLISHED:.)
