APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A. Approval of November 4, 2025 Minutes

ANNOUNCEMENTS, REPORTS, AND PRESENTATIONS
A. Public Art for Downtown Park - John Fleming Presentation
Artist John Fleming gave a presentation of his public art design process and proposed
conceptual design for Auburn's future Downtown Park. Fleming showcased his entire
creative process, starting from initial sketches to the most finished renderings. The
artist explained details of how the sculpture would be constructed and specified the
types of materials that would be utilized, including sharing a sample of the mirror-finish
stainless steel finish he intends to use. Commissioners asked several questions
regarding maintenance of the artwork, as well as repair in the event of damage taking
place. Fleming provided reassurance that, based on the modular design and choice of
materials, the artwork could be easily maintained, and that parts of the artwork could be
removed and replaced over time if needed.
Arts Program Supervisor Allison Hyde shared that the next step of the process would
include Fleming presenting the proposed design concept to Auburn City Council in
January, 2026.
Chair Olsen requested for a motion to recommend Fleming's public art conceptual
design as presented. Commissioner Lott made a motion to approve and recommend
the conceptual design to Auburn City Council. Commissioner Smetheram seconded the

motion. Motion passed unanimously.
