Law requires that 1% of the overall budget for the project be allocated to the Sound Transit Art Program (STart). Artists are contracted with Sound Transit directly to design the artwork, where the artwork is fabricated by Sound Transit's fabrication firms. Sound Transit is working in collaboration with Samuel Obrovac, who is designing an interlayer glass installation for the new Downtown Sound Transit Parking Garage, to be fabricated and installed by the garage's opening in 2027. Samuel Obrovac is taking inspiration from traditional Muckleshoot tribal designs, creating a custom story pole for the facade and additional woven towers bordering the outer stair tower. A descriptive plaque will accompany the story pole providing context for the artwork.
