p.m. was held in person and virtually.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A. Approval of March 3, 2026 Minutes
Commissioners were asked to review minutes for the March 3, 2026 meeting.
Commissioner Kristine De Leon moved that the minutes be accepted as written.
Commissioner Chad Perkins seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.
ACTION ITEMS
A. Centennial Viewpoint Park Public Art Presentation

Arts Program Supervisor Allison Hyde introduced artists Ben Dye and Sharon Agnor,
selected artists to fabricate a new public art installation at Auburn's Centennial
Viewpoint Park.
Sharon Agnor and Ben Dye introduced the location and the inspiration behind their
public artwork. Designed to look like trees coming over the walkway, this piece aims to
straddle the main path to the viewpoint. Agnor and Dye aim to honor the previous public
artwork "The Long Look" by Brad Rude by including a log for sitting near the main
artwork. Commissioners asked questions and expressed concerns, answered by Agnor
and Dye.
Commission Chair Trisenda Mayfield requested motion to approve the public art design
as presented. Motion to approve was made by Commissioner Tori Olsen, seconded by
Commissioner Chad Perkins. Motion passed unanimously.
B. 2026-27 Downtown Sculpture Gallery Presentation
Arts Program Supervisor Allison Hyde introduced the Downtown Sculpture Gallery
program to Commissioners, explaining the yearly artwork rotation, locations, pedestal
restrictions, and other considerations for outdoor sculpture acceptance. Downtown
Sculpture Gallery artworks are juried exclusively by the Arts Commission. Hyde
presented top sculptures recommended for the opportunity based on jury scores.
Commission Chair Trisenda Mayfield requests a motion to approve Downtown
Sculpture Gallery artworks as presented. Motion to approve was made by
Commissioner Chad Perkins, seconded by Commissioner Patrice Edwards. Motion
passed unanimously.
Artworks include: Blue Heart by Sharon Agnor, Salvaged Beam Acrylic Reflector by
Ben Brady, Knowing Descendant by Shelly Durica-Laiche, Contemplation by Ben
Dye, Open Your Heart by Jenny Ellsworth, Kingfishers by Anna Lee Harris, The
Distance Between Us by Ed McCarthy, Mobalisk by Kyle Ocean, Akitsu Dragonfly
Lantern by Heather Sparks, Hope by Ken Turner, and Burnt Fire Ranch by MacRae
Wylde
ANNOUNCEMENTS, REPORTS, AND PRESENTATIONS
A. 2026 Postmark Artist in Residence Selected Artist
Arts Program Supervisor Allison Hyde introduced the selected 2026 Postmark Artist in
Residence, Yoshi Nakagawa. Hyde explained the value of an artist residency and how
Nakagawa plans on utilizing the studio, printmaking equipment, and Nakagawa's vision
for the final exhibition in the Vault Gallery space.
DISCUSSION ITEMS
Hyde discussed upcoming grant programs, exhibitions, and events to attend.
Commissioner Carol Smetheram announced upcoming Auburn School District shows
and events.
