Resolution No. 4368 to the City Council for approval.
Background Summary:
I
As environmental, economic, and social concerns have continued to increase on local, regional and
global levels there has been a simultaneous heightened awareness of sustainability. At this time laws
have been and are being enacted to ensure future sustainability. The City Council recently heard a
presentation on community sustainability and global climate protection by Councilmember Wagner at the
City Council Committee of the Whole Meeting March 31, 2008. In that presentation, a number of actions
and decisions the City can take were expressed. Those actions would help to further ensure community
sustainability, minimize negative impacts on the natural environment, help ensure adequate long-term
local, regional, national, and global resources, and can help reduce global warming and climate change.
Staff recommends adoption of the attached resolution and preparation of subsequent code.
