Resolution No. 3588 authorizes the Mayor to execute a Memorandum of Agreement between Senior
Services of Seattle/King County (SSS/KC), a non-profit corporation, and the City of Auburn to provide a
Lifetime Fitness exercise program at the Auburn Senior Activity Center for Center participants. The City
provides room for the classes and storage space for the equipment. The City contracts, with certified
instructors, to teach the classes and submits the required registration forms and participation records to
SSS/KC. SSS/KC developed the program in conjunction with the University of Washington and is
designed specifically for older adults. SSS/KC is responsible for training instructors, developing program
enhancements and updates, provides weights and technical assistance, and solicits corporate sponsors.
Students are required to pay a course fee - currently $21.00 - for 15 class hours, and Group Health (a
current sponsor) pays the fee for their Medicare participants.
The program has been offered at the Senior Center for several years, and is popular with the senior
participants. This class is offered mornings or afternoons, on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
