City Council approve Amendment No. 4 in the amount of $159,191.93 to Consultant Agreement No. AG-
C-161 with Parametrix, Project Number C1014, Auburn Way South Safety Improvements.
Background Summary:
The City of Auburn has received 4 grants through the Federal Hazard Elimination Safety (HES) Program
totaling $833,100 to implement safety improvements on SR-164 (Auburn Way South) between 6th Street
SE and M Street SE. The improvements will include raised median between 6th Street SE and south of F
Street SE, a traffic signal at F Street SE, signal interconnect, and an additional lane between 6th Street SE
and D Street SE.
Amendment No. 4 in the amount of $159,191.93 is being requested to complete the design for the Auburn
Way South Safety Improvements project.
The original contract (Phase 1) included the public involvement process, scope refinement to incorporate
the results from the public involvement, the initial environmental documentation, completion of the project
design through the 30% level, and the creation and submittal of the project analysis that was required to
be submitted to WSDOT for their approval.
This contract amendment (Phase 2) will finalize the design. In addition to the final design, the scope
includes a geotechnical report to assure a proper signal pole foundation and pavement design, and an air
quality hot spot analysis required for the traffic signal permit.
