Ordinance No. 5752 amends Auburn City Code 10.36.380 entitled "One-Hour Parking Zones" to eliminate
parking on Auburn Way South from 2® Street SE to 4th Street SE. A review of this area, taking the
opening of the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe Amphitheater into consideration, showed that eliminating parking
in this area would improve traffic flow along Auburn Way South.
Last month, King County Metro and Sound Transit removed the "bus layover point" on Auburn Way South
and moved the "bus layover point" to the downtown Transit Center.
This parking change would allow the City to open an additional southbound lane to traffic, between Main
and 4th Street SE, for less than $200. Arterial roadways typically cost $1 million per lane mile to
construct.
Staff has notified the two affected businesses of the proposed change.
