City Council award Small Works Contract 02-30, Project Number C226A, Hillcrest Estates Detention
Pond Improvements, to Mike McClung Construction Company, Inc. on their low bid of $84,142.50 plus
WA state sales tax of $7,404.54 for a total contract price of $91,547.04.
Background Summary:
The project's scope consists of the construction of a detention facility expansion. The existing detention
facility, shown in the attached map, will be expanded approximately 22% to help alleviate potential
flooding of downstream properties. Final project completion includes landscape restoration to establish
both natural and ornamental areas. Project construction will begin in early June and completion is
anticipated in November 2003.
The actual bids exceeded the Engineer's Estimate. In review of the bids, it appears that the additional
costs are due to clearing and grubbing, and excavation, which appear to be valid and consistent with
other bids.
A budget adjustment of $20,000 from the 432 Unrestricted Storm Fund will be required this year to fund
the project.
