Background Summary:
Resolution No. 3623 adopts the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials
(AASHTO) Policy on Geometric Design of Highways and Streets (2001). The policy outlines various
horizontal distances from the travel path for recovery of errant vehicles.
This guideline will serve as a design standard for all future projects. Where there is conflict in standards
with other publications and recommendations, the City Engineer will provide a decision.
